It was only twelve months ago that Wigan Athletic thumped Hull City in the third round of the FA Cup, but I feel we will see a different approach this time as Martinez rings the changes.

Just over a year ago Latics came out 4-1 winners at the DW Stadium, they made it look very easy, but with Bobby making wholesale changes and asking the youth to ‘make names for themselves’, this will be a very different looking team to that of last season.

Hull have had a great run lately and will really fancy their chances at the KC Stadium on Saturday against what they will feel is an under strength team. In reality, Martinez desperately needs to rest some very tired players ahead of next week’s games in the league.

The Club has stated that anybody travelling without tickets will be able to pay on the gate, which sounds like there aren’t many fans willing to brave the weather and spare the expense to travel to Humberside.

Latics haven’t really set the FA Cup on fire, but wins in the Carling Cup lately did see an upturn in performances in the League and so there is an incentive to get a run together and the manager seems to think our fringe and youth players should have enough to deal with Hull.
