Wigan Athletic will welcome Spanish La Liga side Villareal to the DW Stadium on the 7th August, whilst other friendlies include League 1 Preston North End, Boston United and Marine FC.

Wigan Athletic have confirmed their pre-season friendly fixtures in the build up to the Barclays Premier League kick off against Norwich City on August 13th.

In manager Juan Carlos Garrido’s first season at the helm, the Spanish Champions League qualifiers finished in a highly creditable 4th place in La Liga last season behind only Barcelona, Real Madrid and Valencia. El Submarino Amarillo (the Yellow Submarine!) will provide formidable opposition in the final pre-season match before the big kick off, the only one at the DW Stadium.

PRESTON NORTH END v LATICS
Deepdale, Sunday July 31, kick off 3.00pm
Tickets £10.00 adults, £5.00 Concessions

Latics will make the short trip to Deepdale to face Phil Brown’s side, relegated from the Championship last season, and looking to bounce back at the first attempt in 2011-12. Latics last played here two seasons ago, when Roberto Martinez’s men impressed in an emphatic 4-1 victory
