Wigan Athletic have never beaten Birmingham at St. Andrews in the league and we will go there for all three points after we were robbed at the DW Stadium, Bobby will be looking for the rub of the green from the officials as well.

It seems a million years ago since our last win and it is nigh on time we got what our performances deserve. I don’t think I have seen us dominate so many games in a season and somehow come out of them with very little.

Birmingham came to the DW expecting a very tough game, they got an even tougher test than they thought and must have wondered how the hell they left with all three points after Latics had dominated from the off. The Blues managed a ten minute spell where they got two goals from their first two real chances; this made it 2-1 with 20 minutes. They managed another on the break before we pulled one back to make an uncomfortable last few minutes. MATCH REPORT

Bobby needs to start picking up points now as it is getting tight for those last two relegation places. Birmingham hasn’t been getting the results of late and so this could be a good opportunity to take advantage and inflict a reverse on McLeish’s men. Brum will want to get back to winning ways also bit they will have to try and do it without Ferguson, Carsley and O’Connor, all of which are injured for this game.

Martinez will have to wait on fitness tests to see if Titus Bramble and James McCarthy will play, but should they not we have good cover for their positions and will be quite comfortable. The three points is what we must look for now, the strikers have to start hitting that target to give the team a lift ahead of the Liverpool and Bolton games.

If we did manage to win, it would be our first time at St. Andrews and more importantly it would give a bit more of a cushion at the bottom of the league. It looks like Portsmouth’s death warrant has been signed now they have been deducted 9 points, so it is now two from 10 that will join them.

The referee for this encounter will be Anthony Taylor
