After the disappointment of the midweek game against Portsmouth Roberto could well do without a smarting Arsenal playing a very inconsistent Wigan Athletic, but those are the cards were dealt and now we could do with another Chelsea performance to see us safe.

Latics were distraught after the not winning in midweek, but they are going to have to lift themselves very quickly to play a team that is smarting from their loss to Spurs which all but ended any hope of them challenging for the Premier League title this season.

Our record against the gunners is dreadful to say the least, just one point out of 9 league meetings. We can draw some positivity from the fact that we got our solitary point at home and Arsenal is suffering a massive injury crisis at the moment.

Arsene Wenger will be without the central defenders Gallas and Vermaelen, whilst other injuries include Fabregas, Djourou, Song, Ramsey, Arshavin and Gibbs. They will however have Van Persie raring to go after he came on against Spurs and has suffered no ill effects.

Bobby will be without Hendry Thomas and Gary Caldwell, but that is the least of his worries after a rather lacklustre performance last time out. The gaffer has to somehow instil a bit of life and belief into this squad as we have to get at least 3 points out of our next three games and although Arsenal wouldn’t be an immediate pointer to get them, after the season we’ve had you never know what we are going to pull out of the hat.

One thing we have to avoid is a repeat of the scoreline we got at the Emirates, 4-0 would seriously dent the confidence and also take our goal difference even further away from our nearest rivals.
