After a twelve month sabbatical in the Championship, Newcastle United will once again welcome Wigan Athletic to St James Park; Latics will want to keep that zero in the away loss column and with only one loss in seven we should do well
Newcastle United were dramatically relegated 18 months ago and after winning the Championship at the first attempt are well and truly back with the big boys.
Latics will go to St James Park looking for their first ever league win there and with our current form looking OK, we have a good chance to get something from the North East.
With two wins and a draw the Toon are just a point and a place behind us in the league, things looked very rosy on the opening day beating Aston Villa 6-0.
They do have one thing in common with us, having given 3 points to Blackpool in their inaugural season in the top flight. Steve Hughton has a few injury worries and a defence that don’t seem to be able to keep a clean sheet.
This game though will see Roberto have a full squad to pick from and one player in particular will want a start on Saturday. Charles N’Zogbia was ridiculed in his time at Newcastle and he will be chomping at the bit to get one over on his old side.
Latics will want to continue their good form with a result at the Toon, and as long as the defence continues their good work, there is no reason why we should come away with something, it would be nice though to see Boselli and Di Santo find their shooting boots to kick start their seasons.
