The Echo Arena plays host again to the Mersey Masters on July 4th 2010, where Wigan Athletic will pit their wits against Liverpool, Everton, Tranmere and two additions in Blackpool and Preston North End.
The Masters tournament has been extended to a six team format which will see Premiership new boys Blackpool and Championship Preston added to the established quartet of Latics, Liverpool, Everton and Tranmere.
The event is usually quite a good laugh as ex-players take to the pitch to represent their old club, reaching the Grand Final is the main goal which takes place on September 6th. Tranmere won last year’s competition and went on to win the Grand Final as well.
