Bob, you may not realise it but you are suffering from a dose of “misplaced objectives”. You cannot win an argument so you attempt to discredit your opponent and hence by association discredit what he says. My tongue was very firmly in my cheek when I said late forties, in fact that was when I was born – is your maths any better than your debating skills? What should have been my first game was in 1955 when I got a free ticket from junior school. I went on my bike (god knows what i was going to do with it when i got there) but fell off trying to negotiate the rail lines on the “sewerage pad” and limped home crying instead. I walked to the next home game and arrived safely. Please don’t ask me who played or what the score was because I haven’t a clue.
