I am fully aware of the history and have had digs myself but I think there comes a time when the threads become banal and very much the same ! I like to read most threads and contribute to many as you know, so just saying that you are covering old ground again ! I will be glad when RL finally curls up and dies which wont be too long from what I can gather ! I just think that these sort of threads can maybe contained to just one sticky perhaps ?
25 February 2013 at 2:04 pm #104002We tried that but it had to be closed.
25 February 2013 at 2:15 pm #104004For the record SDW…..
Our crowd against Liverpool has been sub 20k for the last 3 seasons. You can’t use the database as an excuse because you only need to have been to 1 match in the whole time we’ve been at The JJB/DW. If you haven’t managed that then you aren’t really a Wigan Athletic fan are you?
London Broncos had less than 10 fans there so almost 12k home fans for a sh*te game on a freezing cold day isn’t bad going. Strangely enough, our crowds always take a hit on a Sunday nowadays.

I think that coincides with the rise in the number of establishments now offering all you can eat Sunday lunch.

Re: Wot no brigantes? The atmosphere would have been no different as having away supporters creates a banter between supporters.
As for the missing ‘4,500, you always will get this as many people only go to the big games, plus of course, the game was on a Sunday when some may be working or be doing something else.
JUST ADMIT IT, SHOCKING TURNOUT FOR A TOP FLIGHT LEAGUE GAME (2ND OF SEASON). NO DOUBT THEY’LL HAVE AN ATTENDANCE THREAD FOR THE GOOD FRIDAY FIXTURE OVER ON RLdeluded.communist

Maybe Egg, but the Melbourne derby was the first game of the season in the A-League and they had 42k on, while 35k went to the Sydney v Newcastle game the following week.
And now I step into nerd mode:
The average attendance of Sydney FC is 18k and Melbourne Victory is 22k.
The league average is 12k – which is on par with somewhere between Championship and League One.
It’s the highest average since 2008 – so yes, it is growing.
By average attendance, the most watched ‘football’ sports in Australia are:
Aussie Rules 32k
Rugby Union 20k
Rugby League 18k
Association Football 12kBy contrast, last season’s UK Super League average attendance was 10k

Of course there will – from you know who.Seriously, this attendance crap is all getting a bit tedious.
But ir goes both ways: I even had a rugby fan neighbour post a message to me on Facebook this week claiming half the crowd last Saturday was made up of Liverpool fans.
Sad folk.
8 March 2013 at 2:49 pm #104683reason ausies get decent crowds compared to the two counties version in england is its ausies national sport didn’t they invent it in first place
