I hope the Ribble drops off before thursday, I fancy a session touch ledgering for chub with cheesepaste for bait, smelly baits work much better when there’s a couple of feet on.
14 December 2011 at 12:06 am #75883I Simply asked why he would make it up.
Because he’s a journalist?
Surely he could have thought of something better than that, though?
Oh I don’t know, keepers leaping roughly one metre up in the air is the stuff playground Dad’s arguments are made of ! :P
14 December 2011 at 3:02 am #75894One metre standing jump ? I’m not sure I believe that one !!
Why would he make it up?
Griff, get either a metre ruler or a tape measure and place it in front of yourself and then make your own mind up as to whether or not you think it plausible to leap that high from a standing start ! Even if he means by bringing his knees up to his chest, I still find it a little far fetched ! If on the other hand he means one metre in length then that is well doable in fact one metre in length is very easy to do. His use of the word bounce insinuates height to me. Barnes Wallis would no doubt beg to differ ! :)
1 metre jump with bringing your knees up to your chest….. far fetched? you must be one chubby boy haha
Not overweight at all but thank you you for falling into my trap ! A one metre standing jump lifting your knees to your chest is indeed not that hard to achieve and as I already mentioned the lengthways one metre standing jump is also well easy so I am to presume he means a standing vertical jump with no leg bend which is utter bollocks ! Garswood, your vid clip is a somersault and not a one metre standing vertical jump !
Since when was being wrong then contradicting yourself considered to be a trap? :P

Ambiguity of internet ! I was being sarcastic ! Yeah a one metre standing jump with bended knees is very easy….NOT !! The universal height of a kitchen worktop is 90cm, can you from a standing start leap onto said worktop ? I know I cant !!

Yeah I think I probably could….. I would try it at home to test my theory but unfortunately I would bounce back of the cuboards above :silly:
But considering that I think I would have a good chance of it at 6 ft 2 15 stone spending my working days sat at a desk is it really that “far-fetched” that a 6 ft 4 (1.94m) 12.59784355344 Stone (80kg) man from Tanzanian heritage ( I presume very good jumpers ) who’s job requires him to be proficient in jumping could not handle the extra 10cm?
14 December 2011 at 10:04 pm #75920Church Deeps for me tomorrow.River running off nicely.6lb. mainline. Open ended 30-45g feeder tactics on a medium length 4lb flouro link, paternoster style. Feeder packed with liqiudised bread, micro pellet, hemp, maggot and feeder casters. Two red maggots or punched bread as hookbait fished mid-river.16’s semi-barbless animal eyed hook. Expecting roach, chub and big dace. Lazy pike rod over shelf.

Whilst were on the subject of fishing, arky. Any chance you can give me some tips about how to catch something better than my recent haul
15 December 2011 at 12:57 am #75931LMB.
You are correct re. feeder casters, my local tackle dealer supplies me with shed fulls of old feeder maggots(for free), ideal in pupae form in my feeder mix. ;)
Hooks. After fishing The Ribble for over 40years, I think, no I know, which type of hook to use in any given area/situation. :P15 December 2011 at 1:27 am #75942Anonymous
and there is me thinking this was a football site
15 December 2011 at 1:33 am #75943do you prefer barbed or semi-barbed?

If its george you must be his one and only customer, everytime I drive past hes stood on the doorstep with nobody in the shop, i stopped going in years ago, couldnt stand his rudeness or how he spoke to dot any longer.

a lightly battered from pepper lane chippy thanks
15 December 2011 at 1:50 am #75946do you prefer barbed or semi-barbed?I used tubertini series 2 for years for all my general stuff, pole or wag(long time since i trotted a stick), but now I use a Colmic 957 all micro barb.
For feeder there’s only 2 patterns B520 or if I am after bream B560, but more and more of my fishing is on commies now and its all barbless so Fox match carp on the method and knotless knots for hairs or Prestons PR 28 on the pole. -
