11 September 2012 at 2:02 pm #92889The Chris Martin of the tennis World ! When will an English player next win a Grand Slam ? It must be knocking on 80yrs since the last one ! I do think that Djokovic was slightly unfortunate to get a bad case of cramp or whatever it was in the final set after being in the ascendancy over the 3rd & 4th ! You may have guessed by now that I cant be doing with the po-faced Scot !

It was much more entertaining watching his Wimbledon final strop when he didn’t win. He’s Scottish, that’s how he want to be represented. I’m English, I have no desire to see him win anything.
My parents were lucky enough to be successful in the ballot and got tickets for the mens Wimbledon final this year. They said the majority of the tennis fans there were anti-Murray. Strange how this never comes across on our impartial BBC coverage, making out how the whole country is coming together in unison to cheer him on.

Wind up merchant :P
There’s no chance he will win ‘Sports Personality’ of the year though as he only half qualifies for that.

This has always been a chip on the shoulder for the English. Murray was misquoted years back when he talked about wanting anyone other than England to win. He is Scottish yes and those who are English are equally as patriotic in their own way. The concept of Britain has been dead for a long time and is only rolled out to suite the media and things like the olympics. No different that Bradley Wiggins being touted as a Northerner, when in fact he was born in Belgium to an Australian dad and brought up in London. (Go on Royal Mail, try find a post box to paint there !)
He is misserable because he doesnt exactly like the limelight of the worlds media. Whats wrong with that !
Andy Murray is living proof that the LTA are bunch of idiots. They refused to back him when he was young, so his parents took sponsorship and trained him in Barcelona outside of the system. Maybe thats a reason why he doesnt like Wimbledon too much.

11 September 2012 at 6:11 pm #92913So it would appear that Andy Murray’s major crime in life appears to be that he’s Scottish first and foremost (proudly and rightly so) and British second. A bit like us English in reverse. Oh, he lacks a bit of charisma too. Big deal.
Top player, top bloke (given half the chance). Filmoss’s analogy with Chris Martin makes no sense whatsoever and he obviously didn’t watch the match if he thought Murray won because Djokovic got cramp. Oh and the lemur’s comments have been less than refined on this thread. Maybe he should call himself crass_lemur.
**Edited for originally posting this -Maybe he he call himself crass_lemur.**
