13 November 2012 at 2:29 pm #96565Apart from the six odd million spent on boselli, the couple of stand out purchases for me are 5.3 million for koumas, and 5 million for marlon king! Jesus Christ what were we thinking?
There is no way on Earth that Ramis is worth the money we paid for him either ! B)
13 November 2012 at 2:41 pm #96567Swings and roundabouts though, some of the fees we’ve brought in are remarkable, palacios, Valencia, Moses, n’zogbia, all good mark ups, good business overall I think, to be breaking about even in this league is some achievement, and I applaud them for it, I’ve been one to advocate some marquee signings in the past, I think that’s what it would take to kick on to the next level, but it’s a massive gamble and has so many hurdles, I don’t think I would risk it if it were my money, and that’s assuming players would come to Wigan regardless of how much we offered them!

If Uncle Dave wants to talk about the next level, then he should put his money where his mouth is or just sit down and keep his pipe dreams to himself because I’m afraid you need to put some serious money into obtaining success in this league !
13 November 2012 at 2:53 pm #96570The next level will always be the toughest to achieve umless you do the portsmouth theory and we all know what went on there
13 November 2012 at 3:04 pm #96571The next level will always be the toughest to achieve umless you do the portsmouth theory and we all know what went on thereExactly and so Uncle Dave should not be dangling the proverbial carrot in front of the faces of new and prospective fans, by coming out with what are quite clearly his own little pipe dreams !
13 November 2012 at 3:10 pm #96572Surely you are wise enough to understand that Dave opinion of the next level will be done in a financial scale that will not put the clubs finances in jeopardy ,We all know that as wealthy as DW is he his out of his league when even coming up against clubs owners such as Reading and QPR ,Southampton even.
The next level may or may not be achieved if it is it will be done within the financial capabilities of the club ,without putting the club in financial risk

Staying in the PREM’ this year is massive, given the stupid numbers being paid effective next year for TV rights.
Implementation of a salary cap discipline (being discussed) will help, to ensure greater available funding for transfers.
As will good form, a decent TOP 10/12 finish and a few extra on a Saturday. If only ….(more bums on seats, DW)
Stoke (b’ awful football), haven’t done too badly at all since they came up. Not in the same league as QPR money-wise, but the Britannia packed put every week (and they’ve splashed the cash a little)
If Abby Clancy is willing to go to the Potteries, then there’s gotta be hope for LATICS !
Kone @ £2.7M – you don’t always need to spend the money (granted you’ve got to be good to be in the right place, at the right time …)
