Things are getting dire.
Been looking at our squad situation and come the seasons end we will have 12 players under contract. Plus Tickle will likely be sold. Maybe also Carragher. Certainly, if we go down to League 2, Carra isn’t playing in League 2.
Southampton are sniffing after Bettoni already.
Honestly, if we don’t watch what we are doing, this club is heading down to League 2 and maybe non league oblivion. We could easily do a Carlisle.
Our squad is full.of loans and players just running contracts down. If you loan players off clubs in your own division, I find it staggering. If they aren’t good enough for their parent club, why are they good enough for us? I really think our squad and club is in a dire, shit state the way things are. Definitely heading on a downward spiral. Even if we manage to stay up, its another rebuild of loans and freebies. Done on the ultra cheap all the time. Its not sustainable at all.
But we ALL need to realise just how precarious things are at present. Other clubs woukd act and try and do something. But ours will just be silence and frustration. Are these owners and board genuinely bothered at all? Well fucking well show us then! SPEAK to us!
I will gladly go in fir a meeting with them and tell them why I feel like I do. The club is on a downward spiral and I currently have mo hope of us getting out of this. The whole club is a shambles. Recruitment is awful. If they have any balls, put a Fans Forum on and let people speak. Not managed questions about price of pies and bollocks like that, but about the real issues surrounding the club. The poor performances and real threat of relegation.
Show us you fucking care! Because we do. We will be the ones still here when these clowns have jumped ship.
Yeah, I’m pissed off. Like we All should be.
18 January 2026 at 2:00 pm #206700What makes things much worse this season is the table is much more compacted than usual.
By now there are normally 2-3 teams cast adrift at the bottom so really only 1 relegation place to avoid.
This season down to 23rd is very much in play, especially, God forbid, we lose at Doncaster. Even Port Vale are not cast adrift yet, 2 wins and they’re right back in the mix.
18 January 2026 at 3:45 pm #206701And Port Vale have just appointed Brady so they could get a new manager bounce. He impressed me how he went and spoke to the fans after yesterday’s defeat. Seems cert genuine and a good fellow. Our manager would scoff and say “what have you done in football?” I swear down now if a Latics manager ever fires that at me, I will never go again.
We have some really hard and awkward games coming up. In truth, the Arsenal game is something we really don’t need. A distraction. And the reality is that by the time we face them we may have lost a player or two…Tickle maybe. Lose him and we have big problems.
Lose at Donny and we are in shit street.
22 January 2026 at 9:56 am #206711Next season will be no different from the rest 14-16 out 14-16 in mostly free and loans and from lower leagues than us.
Take the signing of Moxon on loan, I’m not one for slating any player till I’ve seen them play a dozen or so games but on paper his previous doesn’t get you excited.
He spent the vast majority of his career (9 years in total) in the lower Scottish Leagues and Carlisle.
Portsmouth sell Stockport then loan out. Now I’m not saying whether he’s a good or bad signing I’ll put that on hold till I’ve seen him, he might be a world beater.
But looking at his age, his previous clubs and the amount of EFL games he’s played I’m not so sure he’s at L1 level, I hope he proves me wrong
22 January 2026 at 6:48 pm #206716If we go down to League 2 and then end up with about 10 contracted players, as no doubt Tickle and Carragher, maybe even Bettoni, will be sold for 300k apiece, if we are lucky.
Then we will struggle to attract anyone decent, will shove Leo Graham etc in to make the numbers up.
We may well free fall to the National League.
27 January 2026 at 5:34 am #206752Benn Ward our supposed Accrington target now signs for Reading. Shows what a shit show our club is. Allegedly we increasd our bids a tenner at a time for 2 weeks. .Reading recently in grave financial trouble…..now outbidding us . Cant blame him…..does this club look like it’s going anywhere in the near future?? Have to release 2 loanees before we can bring 2 in.Any potential transfer fees from Robinson, Hughes already being spent on the slutch rats pre season Tenerife jolly.Pitiful at executive level, rinse -repeat turdfest on the pitch. God help us when this season ends. Loanees gone, players out of contract probably want to get the F### out of dodge. Then a complete pound shop rebuild irrespective of which league we’re in. Everything feels tired……The management’s support of Lowe is to coffin nail. Saturday was a disgrace…..credit to the players for busting a gut to steal a draw but the truth is we could have been 5 down before our 1st….thank God for Tickle……Lowe has to go ….he won’t change this system and all the data, results tell their damning story……..but still Danson and son sit on their hands and watch the slide progress……….
27 January 2026 at 9:35 pm #206754Just gets worse and worse
Pitiful effort and performance. So glad I resisted driving down there
27 January 2026 at 10:03 pm #206755Absolutely gutless.
Not just the result, but the lack of fight, the lack of passion. How many yellow cards did we get?
Did we even voice any protest at that penalty decision? I didnt see any. We look like we are beaten before we kick off! Seems no urge to bust a gut. No desperation. No emotion. We are just sleep walking to relegation.
The players are definitely NOT playing for the manager. Preston was a one off.
Most gutless, piss poor Latics team I’ve seen in 40 years. If I were losing I’d at least clatter someone. Nothing. We’ve a squad of absolute shithouses. None of them care.
Owners haven’t got a clue, either. As for the manager….if he’s still manager on Saturday it shows the owners don’t care.
27 January 2026 at 10:36 pm #206756I thought even after the goal we were the better side but again were gutless up top.
Raphael’s assist just proves what I’ve been saying for months, we don’t posess wingbacks.
Matt Smiths sat so deep it’s virtually impossible to make things tick. Then at 2-0 down Lowe basically went to a back 4 in a last gasp effort.
Lowe’s paid the price for not adapting a system to suit players at hand.
He has to go, period. There’s something not right. I noticed near the end Fox went to the bench to grab a drink and Lowe and Fox basically blanked each other. That’s his most senior player getting zero instructions or encouragement.
I think there’s enough backroom staff to see this season out without panicking and bringing in a rush job manager.
One that comes to mind
Leighton Baines
27 January 2026 at 11:11 pm #206757No, needs an experienced head. Not a novice. Baines would be mad to come here. We’ve a bad bunch in the squad…I really think it is. Too many loans, too many running their contract down and too many who know they’ll be off in the summer.
The club and squad is in a really bad shape. Awful shape.
Its going to need a manager with real connections to turn this mess around and pull in recruits. Definitely NOT a job for Baines or a novice.
If hes potted now as well, perfect excuse for no spending with deadline coming up. I predicted that week’s ago.
Rumour going about tonight hes sacked in the morning and Bruce in. No idea if it will happen..players body language is awful, something has clearly gone on behind the scenes. Let’s not forget Rioch needs to go as well..a full bloody clear out.
27 January 2026 at 11:30 pm #206758“Keep on trying until told otherwise”
Gone tomorrow methinks
