11 April 2012 at 1:57 am #84861Totally agree but it’s the constant snipeing of spelling mistakes and what not that gets on my nips
I haven’t seen too much sniping of his spelling mistakes.
And to further support my view that it’s fair game to criticise his reports I would immediately take issue with his headline where he’s blaming the referee for what happened on Saturday.11 April 2012 at 2:06 am #84864Anonymous
thats how you spell sniping cheers
11 April 2012 at 2:12 am #84865thats how you spell sniping cheersGlad you appreciated how subtle I was in correcting your spelling mistake without resorting to sniping!

yes very suttle
11 April 2012 at 3:36 am #84875I took more offence at the way that the duke had a sly pop at Jason Roberts, throwing him in the same category as chimbonda, bang out of order, failed to put your hero in that category though mr duke, it was noticed ;)
11 April 2012 at 3:39 am #84876Quite frankly the Duke as took time to put together a report of the weekends events as he has done on numerous occasions only to be ripped to pieces by posters on here carry on Duke and don’t respond to them because they can’t be bothered doing itWell said 34!

The Duke writes one article a week. But he can’t be botheredlowering himself to join in with rest of us who can be bothered to post our drivel throughout the rest of the week as well. Maybe that’s because in the past he’s been shown to be not very good at debating.
I wouldn’t have a pop at anyone for writing any article, Duke included. But, like the rest of us, as soon as he goes into print he risks being argued with and, to be fair, he usually provides plenty of ammunition.
11 April 2012 at 2:06 pm #84896He needs a proof reader !! Its like those idiots on Face Book ! How old are they 14 !!
12 April 2012 at 3:59 pm #84976So, what is the general view on last night’s officials, who appeared to be unaware of the corner or hand ball rules?
12 April 2012 at 4:23 pm #84979Firstly mr or mrs pie – there are no rules in football
My initial view for the “goal” from Moses was that it was a shocking decision & couldn’t see any foul from Caldwell on De Gea – I’ve seen read (albeit on the Manchester Evening News website) that the TV footage shows Caldwell stood on De Gea’s foot. I haven’t seen the footage again but if that is the case then it was a foul if it wasn’t the case then there is no way in a million years that any other offence was committed. On top of that, a referee should not be allowing his assistant to come in with a call on an incident in the middle of the goal & on the goal line from that far away – I certainly doubt that he could see Caldwell stood on his foot
For the corner that led to Latics actual goal it doesn’t come off Jones BUT as both players are falling the ball does take another deflection. It’s off Beausejour when you see it from behind the goal but from Dowd’s angle & the initial TV angle it looks like it came off Jones so I can understand why he gave it
As for the penalty that wasn’t given, if the ball hits Figueroa’s hand directly then it’s a penalty. However if it comes of Figueroa & slices up & hits his hand then it isn’t – the initial footage I saw seemed to show it coming off Figueroa & up onto his hand from about a yard away & at high speed but I’ve seen a clip of it this morning where it looks like it hit him directly. As a result I can see why it wasn’t given.
Phil Jones should have received a 2nd yellow12 April 2012 at 4:33 pm #84984I was sat in front of the supposed corner for the goal and thought it was our ball, the linesman was on the far side and ref behind, so for me it was right to give a corner.
Handball, we should have had one in the first half! But figgy was sliding in and didnt move his hand to the ball, so for me not a pen. Shame the media liked to focus on this. Noticed on talk sport this morning when pointed out to Mr Brazil that we were denied a goal, he changed his tune.
12 April 2012 at 5:02 pm #84992Sorry for the delayed reply, haven’t had chance to go on here since a few nights ago, but I’ll respond to things people have put on this read anyway, even if I’m ‘not very good at debating’.
Sammy – I fully accept that my opinions are being broadcasted for those that read them to comment. I have no problem with this, in fact, I think it’s a good thing if people respond. As 34 stated, it’s when people get all pedantic over the language use and punctuality blah blah blah it gets annoying.
JohnDoe – That’s the kind of comment I encourage, an honest comment stating your opinion without any evidence of trying to spark a ‘cyber-spat’. Yes, maybe it was harsh to group Roberts with Chimbonda, but those comments, like many I write, were light-hearted. But let’s be frank, he’s not achieved that much sicne he left the JJB, has he?
Griff – To be fair, there are some people on here who talk sense, but I consider these opinions to be drowned out by those that express such drivel. I simply don’t have the time or effort to participate in this forum every single night like some people obviously do. Finally, I’d encourage anyone to express their opinion if it conflicts with mine, as long as it was supported fairly by a valid opinion. I could write a very neutral article every week that expressed no opinion at all and sparked no debate. But that would be rather pointless in my view, so I have no choice but to provide ammunition.
And my opinion on the ref last night? He made mistakes for both team, the disallowed goal, the corner, Figgy’s handball, not sending off Evens, possibly Welbeck’s penalty claim etc. But he was poor for both teams, and after having so many decisions go against us over teh years, especially against big clubs, isn’t it only fair we got away with a couple last night.
