Read loads of Latics sites and whenever we’ve sacked a manager there’s always a clammer for Barrow to go to.
Love to know why. Does anyone actually know he’s not doing his job or what his role is? He doesn’t pick the team, choose the tactics. People moan he’s not questioning these. Maybe he is but getting ignored or may be he’s told just to train them and that’s what he’s doing competently.
Every club has a static in the coaching staff and Barrows ours.
Or having said that he could be the incompetent old fool some build him up as.
I remember Whelan sacking him as boss a long time ago and most at that time thought it harsh.
Good points there. He gets a lot of stick and yet his knowledge and experience of the game is extensive. He was one of the major reasons for last seasons promotions.
The man has earned and deserves respect, not ridicule even if he does s.f.a.The point is that most managers have a favoured number 2 and in a lot of cases have a backroom staff they trust so come as a package. With Barrow a permanent fixture here that wont happen and may put off some from taking the job.

I have always thought that Barrow is Whelan’s ‘Eyes And Ears’ Not sure if this is still the case what with Sharpe being at the helm of the club?
