Cook states Powell won’t play over the Xmas period.Is it as big a blow as it first seems ?.Been hit and miss all season ,(when available) and wondering if any news concerning a new contract cos still plenty clubs who’ll take him for good cash even with flaky injury history or is he just going to walk ??.If we did get him on a new de how many would be happy to cash in ?

The aim is the Premier League but they won’t be bankrupting the club to get there so don’t be expecting wads of cash to be thrown around although we will probably spend more than normal.
Of course he’ll be missed. He’s been missed the last few weeks when he’s obviously been carrying an injury. Any team in this division would miss a player of his calibre.
Ironically it could be his injuries that stop him going somewhere else. Who would take a chance on someone who misses so many minutes playing time.

Maybe it is all part of the long term plan. Make out he suffers from fitness problems to put off propective suitors, in the hope we can iron out a deal in readiness to unleash him with a stronger squad around him in the future.
