What is that green flashing light up in the top right hand corner of the West Stand?
6 May 2014 at 1:30 pm #130667if it turns red – leg it!!
Don’t know for certain but I assume that its some form of visual alarm for people with a hearing impairment.
There is a siren warning for emergencies & I know commercial buildings have to have a visual warning on smoke detectors for deaf people so maybe this is somet similar.
Or it could be a visual warning to coppers & stewards to go on high alert without warning supporters
or some drunken student could have nicked it from some roadworks on a night out, broke into the DW, left it & no-one has thought to shift it6 May 2014 at 1:36 pm #130669I’ve also wondered the same myself
6 May 2014 at 1:49 pm #130673I think a deaf person would have a pretty good idea that something was amiss if everyone around them started to leg it ! Ha ha Garswood will know!
6 May 2014 at 3:02 pm #130680My little lad spotted it, the first game I took when he was 2. He’s nearly 4 now and still thinks it’s what I told him it was that day.
“Pixies are here again dad”

6 May 2014 at 4:04 pm #130682to let you know police are in attendance at the stadium if it goes red then there is a situation

7 May 2014 at 6:41 pm #130720Got told that it is for the stewards when it turns red theu are on alert to a serious crowd trouble problemI don’t know the answer for sure, as I don’t think it was there when I was stewarding. However I don’t go along with the notification for stewards line as most stewards wouldn’t see it, and it’s in a very inaccessible place. There are other coded messages that alert stewards to situations, and senior stewards are in radio contact with the control room, so a light up on the gantry is unlikely to be the solution to situation management.
More mundanely, that used to be (and maybe still is) where the club’s video camera was placed when we didn’t have blanket TV coverage, and I suspect it may just be the club’s own video equipment, or part of the press facilities. It is the broadcast media gantry.
