The only other decent game on the opening day is Liverpool v Arsenal
To fulfill TV commitments of 1 x game at 1715 on Sat and 2 games on Sun – I can see this game being shifted from 3pm on Sat
18 June 2010 at 12:52 pm #37806As long as it isn’t Monday night
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
18 June 2010 at 1:11 pm #37809Oh yes forgot about the latest Sky probaganda – what is it again
‘Its back, its Monday night football’
Personally I think it will be a Sunday 1.30 game – then Sky will be able to give Blackpool the big build up

Also the fact it is a derby, the police will be keen for an early kick off !

19 June 2010 at 1:09 pm #37943Wigan manager Roberto Martinez admits his side’s Premier League opener against promoted Blackpool will be “a big challenge”.
The Seasiders clinched a return to the top flight for the first time since 1971 with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Cardiff in the play-off final at Wembley last month.
Martinez told the Wigan Observer: “It’s a tough start. Blackpool will be full of fire for their first game in the Premier League and it’s going to be a big challenge for us – but one we will relish.
“It’ll be a sell-out crowd and probably have the feel of a cup tie, so it will be our job to rise to that challenge and come away with the right result.”
19 June 2010 at 1:26 pm #37944Go on holiday on the Sunday :( If it is to move for TV im hoping for the 12:45 Saturday slotI’ld like it then too, but can’t see Sky having little Wigan and plucky Blackpool as the opening fixture for the ‘greatest league on earth’
I can definitely see it being on the Sunday.
22 June 2010 at 1:18 am #38169Don’t know about being on a Sunday, but maybe it might get moved to the DW. Blackpool apparently requested 2 away games first as they’ve no chance of building the new stand in time. Ground will only hold 12,000, we’ll be lucky to get 600 tickets.
22 June 2010 at 11:25 am #38187At least we might not have the lowest attendance this season !
