Speaking to a mate of mine who watched La Liga last night and one of the commentators let slip about him going to Villareal at the end of the season. Just wondering if anyone else heard it, and if anyone thinks the rumour may be true. I have heard mention that Bob may not stay beyond this season but I understood he had signed an extension to his contract.

That this commentator would some how be in the loop between Villareal and Martinez or that hinders has a friend.

Being in Spain and commentating I would imagine that he would hear things, rumours regarding certain individuals. He mentioned it last night then apologised that he shouldn’t have shared that information. All I asked was had anyone else heard it and would they think it could be true.
Quite a simple thread I thought but obviously Salford not simple enough for you, and regarding friends I have plenty. Not so sure you’ll be able to say the same ;)

Would have thought it would have been all over NewsNow if somebody had released that sort info. on live telly.
However, it might end up all over the, let’s say “more speculative” websites now that you’ve posted it on here.
Ha Ha!!

I guess speculation about your future is all part and parcel of being the best young manager in europe ;)
Would not begrudge him if he went.
He would leave us in a far better position than any of our previous managers even if we went down.
Previously nobody was able to answer who they would like to replace him when calling for a change!
Any thoughts on that now? I know it probably hurts trying to get the old organ grinder going….
If I had to pick a name now I would say Mick McCarthy.
He is a bit of a wolly at times and by no means a tactical genius but his teams usually show alot of passion.

mick mcarthy ?????. surely you would have to go with a manager who has a similar ethos to martinez. otherwise all his work would have gone to waste. i like ian holloway but we want and who wants to come are two differant things like we have found out with players. personally i dont think martinez will go their is no pound bakery anywhere near villareal

lowest paid manager in prem apparently gotta save the cash where he can. only fergie or capello can afford waterfields
24 April 2012 at 2:49 am #85877Martinez cant stand Villareal FACT !!
24 April 2012 at 2:45 pm #85881There’s two scenarios..
If we go down there’s no way Bob would walk. He would want to make sure he brought us back to where he found us – at least.
If we stay up and with it looking likely that we can keep the majority of the current squad ,and maybe make a few improvements then he will probably believe that after three years of relative struggle , we could be in for a good less stressful season.
There was a great article in Saturday’s Mail in which he said that this project is a ten year thing. He accepted that he probably won’t be here after ten years and someone else may be reaping the benefit, just as Rodgers perhaps is getting the plaudits at Swansea. Overall he certainly didn’t give the impression that he was ready to jump ship – I reckon he will only go when he believes we are on truly solid ground.
24 April 2012 at 4:31 pm #85888ive heard rumours on other boards such as holloway coming if blackpool dont get promotion and if Martinez has the job to go to.
think its all rubbish.
i believe we have at least another season with bobby. the fact Gomez signed 2 years recently suggests his manager is also committed to the forseeable future.
im glad may i add.
If we stay up
If we keep Bobby
If we can maintain squadnext season could be a bobby dazzler….
24 April 2012 at 4:34 pm #85890or bobbins!
I’m hoping for the dazzler though.
