Sadly died aged 60.A true Latics legend.
RIP
15 November 2016 at 11:49 pm #152455Can’t believe that!! He was only 60 a true Latics legend who could run through brick walls.
Will never forget the goals he scored for the tics, he would be nowhere near the action then suddenly appeared to bullet a header in, or nip in between two defenders to toe poke home.
It led to us creating a saying between a few fellow tics when someone just arrived at the last minute to score. “He came fromt bottum ert Duggie to score that!”
RIP Bobby you was and always will be a Latics legend, two great seasons and a pretty impressive goal per game ratio.
Goodnight and God bless, another gone far to young. :(
From Matlock to ManU

Anyone else heard this29 November 2016 at 11:41 pm #152733Heard at Huddersfield (where he ran working mens club) last night that he hung himself. someone said the vicar said it at the funeral
Anyone else heard thisYes
“The service at St Peter’s was led by the Vicar of Lindley, Rev Rachel Firth and Lay Reader Jenna Codd.
Rachel said Bobby had been many things to many people. She said: “He was Bob to his family, a brother and an uncle, a friend and a neighbour, a drinking buddy and a football hero.”
She said his death “happened at the wrong time and in the wrong way. He has ended his own life.”
Rachel was anxious to add that there was no ‘stigma’ to what he had done and added that “others might seek help from the depression that overwhelmed Bob. There is great grief and great loss.””
30 November 2016 at 12:58 pm #152740A real better and character.
On a lighter note, does anyone remember his penalty in the Mercantile Credit Football Festival at Wembley in 1988.
Dear me, I bet he is looking down and remembering that.
RIP Bobby. -
