Anyone willing to suffer another 90 mins of our finest world beaters boring the living shite out of the nation?. Just hoping the horrendous sweaties manage to cock it up.
8 October 2017 at 8:18 pm #162437I can’t believe the attitude of many fans following England’s world cup qualification. I’m not a lover of international football, but like most will get a bit of interest when the finals come round. We have qualified end of, job done with games to spare.
For some reason us Brits hate winners, whilst other countries put winners on pedastles.
Can anyone remember how the 1966 world cup winning squad performed leading up to the finals? I realise not many of us were around then but the same will apply to all previous world cup winners. It means jack shyte how you play in the qualifications or even finals themselves as long as you first qualify and then do enough to win the damn thing. Germans think their team do well to grind out a result in qualifying, whereas we think they our team are a pile of shyte. From Matlock to ManU

Its about professionalism 60,000 people paid a lot of money to watch that crap the other night and the so called best players available couldn’t even put on a show for them. If I was as unprofessional in my job I would expect to be dismissed or disciplined at least. At the very least I would expect them to show a little pride.
8 October 2017 at 10:27 pm #162440You are making those comments from the comfort of your living room. There are hard core England fans who watch them win or lose and pay good money to do so. Just like me and you would watch Latics win or lose.
I’m sorry but we will have to agree to disagree on this and start the debate next year at the finals. I bet the Scots wish they had comfortably qualified playing good or bad, than pishing in their pants at 1-1 in Slovenia. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!8 October 2017 at 10:33 pm #162441Correct that, losing 2-1 and might be sat in their living rooms next June, watching their old enemy playing Brasil etc.

I used to go to games all home and a few away I gave up my England membership when the old England members club was disbanded and Team England was introduced. I was as passionate about the team as anyone. Todays players simply do not show the same passion and commitment as the brilliant fans do. Those fans shouldn’t need to demand or expect a performance from these superstars coz they should want to do it for themselves as professionals.
8 October 2017 at 10:57 pm #162443Do you honestly think that players go out and don’t give their all? No matter how much money they are on I believe they do want to play well. However just like we’ve seen this year, when teams come with two banks of four playing deep, it’s bloody hard to break them down, so passing from side to side looking for gaps is the only option. To say they don’t give their all is without foundation. Sometimes you have to look where we are in world standings instead of berating the players and management.

What a journey!9 October 2017 at 1:24 am #162447The qualification campaign has one aim only…to qualify.
Job done. Not pretty or convincing, but job done and move on.
14 consecutive home qualifing wins; not lost an away qualifier for 7 years.
The stats of world beaters :silly:
Proper friendlies to come against Germany and Brazil. Treat them as proper matches Southgate….to prepare for the real games to come in Russia.
Arguably the best thing that could happen to England is to be downgraded into the 2nd pot of seeds for the qualifiers, so we might face Germany, Spain etc and have to win the group to be sure of qualifing.
Incentive for Euro 2020 that we host the semi finals and final…scary that Euro 96 was 21 years ago

How can you say they give their all playing for England when they play at walking pace yet at club level its full pace. I honestly believe that a large part of the problem is fear of injury in international games. Club football has overtaken the national side in order of importance to the modern player at the very top level. It seems to me that the cream today have far more pride in wearing their club colours than wearing the 3 lions shirt. Admittedly it would help if the manager wasn’t so cautious as we have seen at Wigan all too close up but the players should still want to perform out of self respect. You keep saying its just about qualification but this campaign has been a continuation of poor performances from the last tournament which saw us change managers. The media brainwash us into believing that the greed league is where the very best players are both foreign and home grown yet we cannot get the English lads to take their skills and form into international games like the foreigners seem to do.
