From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!7 March 2011 at 12:32 am #61465A goal scored from a provider with him in the box. Exactly the type of play that is his strongpoint, a la Lineker et al. He’s a poacher.
He wasn’t being asked to play as lone striker and create his own chances.
7 March 2011 at 1:23 am #61470The lads obviously got some ability, it’s just like you say, in our system, we’ve not seen it.
I doubt very much he will ever pull our shirt on again, and I think Mr Whelan will sell him at the first opportunity.
It’s a shame, because since when did Wigan Athletic sign the top scoring Argentinian striker? It can’t be a coincidence that 3 or 4 players have struggled in the lone striker system.
Perhaps the system will work in the Championship, where, dare I say, teams are not as good at smothering you and soaking up our slow build up style (which is TOO slow, most of the time. And we’ve had success from our much too rare pacey attacks, haven’t we?), like teams have done to us so many times this season. I am confident Sammon will have something about him, but out of the other strikers we have got, I have no idea who will remain. And to be honest, I’m not that bothered. Get shut of Rodallega, Di Santo, and Boselli, and get someone in like Billy Sharp, who is proven at that level. Seriously.
7 March 2011 at 2:38 am #61474Billy Sharp for Rodallega,
Aye OK.
7 March 2011 at 2:54 am #61476Billy Sharp for Rodallega,Aye OK.
You are a dick.
Rodallega already know’s he’ll be on his way, and why not replace him with a proven striker at that level? (when we go down)
You are in for a shock if you think we’ll have the same team as this season. Not a chance, boyo.
7 March 2011 at 2:58 am #61477Bit harsh that Dave on John !! Besides Billy Sharp is busy with his circus or is that Billy Smart !! :?

vat have you stopped taking the pills -for 12 months or so you actually started making progress on this board -non of your self publicist outrageous claims and some sensible posts – but in the last couple of months you seem to have had an epiphany of sorts and gone back to the old dave from skem routine – and that mon was certainly not of this planet .
7 March 2011 at 10:53 am #61489Billy Sharp for Rodallega,Aye OK.
Why not, Sharp is probably better, Rodders is gash and couldnt score in a brothel. Sharp is a proven scorer, especially at championship level, Personally i would happily trade, Rodders, Di Santo and Boselli, They would fetch maybe close to 20m. In fact
Stam, Figeuroa, Alcaraz, N’Zogbia, Moses(maybe), Diame, Thomas, Rodallega, Di Santo and Boselli are probably guaranteed to go. Maybe bringing in around 30-40m, I would swap the lot for committed English players, I would do it now never mind next season. There are a lot of good players who could do a better job than ours, players like, Sharp, Maynard, Crofts, Shorey, Fox, Westwood e.t.c. And Whelan would still probably make 30m. Everyone is happy.
7 March 2011 at 11:14 am #61490How can they do it now?
7 March 2011 at 1:24 pm #61500How can they do it now?By getting the feelers out and planting the thought of a move to us in their respective heads ! A bit of infiltration has worked wonders in the past when it comes to poaching players !

:text-goodpost: Thanks!I was disappointed we didn’t sign Kris Commons, as he went to Celtic for only £400,000 and was one of the top players in the Championship. James Coppinger at Doncaster has always impressed me, as well.
Glad you can see where I’m coming from, Yosser. We need to buy good players at THAT level, for next season. I’d be cheeky and possibly go after Chris Eagles. In fact, we need to go into it a bit brash, as in “we’re a club who’s come down from the Premiership, and we intend going back”. Sell the club to these players.
I’d be having a sneaky look at Plymouth’s squad as well, to see if they’ve got anybody worth having, with them being in administration.
I hope Bournemouth come up as well, and we get them at their place in May. What a knees up that would be! :obscene-drinkingcheers:
7 March 2011 at 10:45 pm #61553Personally Vat, I agree with pretty much everything you’ve put on this thread.
You ruined it for me when you mentioned James Coppinger but they can’t all be perfect posts can they?
