The owners and board of Bradford City deserve some great credit, you know.
For the last couple of months, they’ve been pushing a big campaign to get 20,000 season tickets sold for next season. Constantly plugging the campaign, and working in cahoots with many local businesses to push this, and offering a special low price of £169 up to end of April.
As of yesterday, they have sold 17,000. This is a club in league one play off positions, who may or may not get promoted this season. So they could have 20,000 season ticket holders as a league one club. That’s outstanding. It really is. If only our club was pushed the same way and ran in cahoots with the support of So.much local business and industry. But you know what? Maybe our downside is actually BEING connected to the ex player who once broke his leg.
For every person who lauds the owner in Wigan, there will be a dozen who charide him and call him not fit to burn. This will be people who have worked for him, or been bitten in business by him over the years. It didn’t matter when we were premier league and everything was rosey. But things have changed and all those people with a gripe about him, can basically queue up now for a dig as it’s payback time…and consequently, Latics are in the middle of it all. This is why I believe we would be better off now if they sold us and we severed all ties. We had a great adventure, some wonderful times. But as you will know, you can be with a girl for years and think that’s you for life. You can have fun times, and even children, but it can still come to an end. Sad as it may be. But I think that’s just about our situation now, as a club.New impetuous, from top to bottom.
7 April 2017 at 4:24 pm #157681Why do people always say its because people worked for him or blah blah blah
What about seeing the cream sold and replaced by sour milk what about the state we are in right now on the playing field
Yes it was great eight years of prem league although was a struggle most of the time great fa cup win
But to say people dont like whelan because they worked for him on this site is utter bllx
Fact is whelan completed what he set out to do prem football fa cup win and huge publicity for himself
If you or anyone on here believe fans on here dont like whelan then i would say someone put up a poll on here to see who has worked for him
But to me this worked for him and dont like him is bllx untill proven on this site especially7 April 2017 at 4:37 pm #157682Did I say I was referring to people on here? No. I was talking about people in Wigan in general.
I know for a fact there are plenty of people staying away because of the regime and the upper management of the club.
Apart from this, I agree with your other comments. Once we won the cup, any ambition kind of….vanished.
7 April 2017 at 4:53 pm #157686Put on red rosette on a donkey in Wigan and it will get the vote, and there lies part of the problem. Some people dislike Whelan because he’s successful and votes Tory, they can never give him any credit despite what Wigan Athletic achieved under his ownership. They will always say he’s ripped the club off even though the clubs finances are there for all to see.
No doubt if Latics were bought by a multi billionaire owner that had a million slave labour workers in china the anti Whelan brigade wouldn’t have a problem with it. I would say some peoples problem with Whelan is simply down to jealously.
