Did you spot Steve McMillan wincing in agony on that photo. Apparently raised his arms a bit too quickly and pulled a muscle in his armpit. Was out for 6 months missing the start of the next season, only to return in December and pick up that nasty twisted sock injury. 8-)
From Matlock to ManU

30 October 2010 at 3:55 am #49666I was sat near the front with a hangover after celebrating Wigan’s win over the enemy the day before. Remember turning round to see the scoreboard showing that Crewe had failed to win and the place (well our end obviously) just erupting.

Didn’t know Fred was your grand-dad!
I used to steward the tunnel when he was sorting the kits and other stuff.
Really nice guy.
30 October 2010 at 5:45 pm #49706I remember that day well.
I was sat right in line with the right hand goalpost upright, next to where the players are on Garswood_Latics photo. I remember Peter Kennedy rattling the bar with an awesome volley. That was as near as we came to scoring on the day.
We must’ve taken 5000 or more that day. A superb away following. Not sure what happened, but there were more people than seats, with people sat on the stairs as well. My mate, a Liverpool fan,who was living in Bradford at the time (and watching City with his inlaws) came down and watched the game with us.Cracking day. :D
30 October 2010 at 6:46 pm #49707As I remember there weren’t more people than seats, but it was allocated seats. We’re used to that now – but then it was a rarity, and Wiganers being Wiganers were saying “stuff this, I’m sitting here no matter what it says on my ticket”. Which meant of course there were some parts of the stand that had empty seats but the “better” bits were overflowing :D
