Whilst i agree that Fortune is crap, and there is no getting away from it, he is crap.
What i would like to know is, i haven’t seen a thread about any other player for ages and let’s be fair, They (maybe with the exception of Kim and Pennant) are all shite.
Emmerson Boyce has been awful and paceless for about 3 years and nobody ever says a bad word about him because he has moulded himself into Mr. Wigan Athletic when the truth of it is he is nowhere near good or pacey enough for this level and hasn’t been for the last 3 seasons.
Views of just about everyone I spoke to last night (in other words real people outside this cloistered environment) are of the opinion that Boycey is now yards too slow.
Fortune just needs someone alongside him, a proper striker. He comes in for a lot of unfair criticism, similar to how Heskey did.
He certainly does need someone alongside him. Our managers so far this season have rejected Holt, Waghorn, Riera, Delort and McKay. Our left winger has been chosen ahead of all these of late leaving a little right sided lad to play out of position on the left. Now it looks like another youngster may be given a go ahead of them. So what are we becoming an exercise class for young Liverpool lads with stupid hair.

Desperate times brought Boycey back into the team. He is slow but he is mid 30s now so hardly surprising and when all said and done he has made a difference to our defence.
His loyalty to the club and the fact he gives 100% every game might be why he doesn’t come in for much stick?I would like to c fortune gone he doesn’t jump for the ball a touch like an elephant and looks like he’s stuck in mud whilst running just my opinion which doesn’t count because malky will do what he feels right for the team
I saw McKay the other day for the Development Squad.
Trust me (though God knows why you should) Fortune brings more to the table. McKay reminds me of Boselli. Runs around into space, but often space that isn’t viable for a pass. He didn’t go and get the ball and “make things happen”.
What I have come to the conclusion is that we need the players who “fed” Boselli or McKay or whoever so they could poach their goals. The people who can set up the chances.
If Fortune brings more to the table then that explains why we are 3rd from the bottom of the league! In my humble opinion he is one of the worst forwards I have ever had the misfortune to watch on a regular basis!
Even forwards who hold up the ball and go looking for it chip in with goals and he had a great chance against Watford but he decided to pass to their goalkeeper
fortune, got to be one of our worst strikers ever you cant even put him into the same bracket of boycey. even the clearence of the line against watford was world class hes got in hes locker what ever other player needs at the moment and that HEART and a big one at that.
what gets me is we all know we need a striker and it prob cost us the playoffs last year so instead of bringin in we let the class that we had leave. Get someone stick it in net and we will be reet everthing else over the pass few weeks as been ten times better.kvist was a poor player not so long ago, now he just looks pretty good in a poor team. McCann could fill that spot again if he finds his confidence?
Hope the Wigan fans show Boycey some loyalty as he has been great for our club over the years.Loyalty will not keep us up Boyce gets caught out a lot at the mo but still a legend but needs to be dropped or rested
