Given the end of season release of Melchiot, or at least the likely bit part role he will play next season, who do you see as the next club captain? Maybe a question for Martinez. (Obviously you would have to ask who he sees as a future Latics captain seeing that Mario is still in the ranks.)
I personally think Caldwell is a natural leader who is able to organise and motivate in a way Melchiot has never been able to. – That’s assuming he returns to the form of his first 6 games. I really like Bramble as a centre half, (most improved player in prem league since joining) but would like him to continue his good form, and wouldn’t want to burden him with it. I would like to see James McCarthy appointed as vice captain. For his age he shows great maturity, and in my opinion, will be one of the first names on the team-sheet next season. I see him as a future Latics’ hero and hopefully it will allow him to be eased into the role of a leader.
29 April 2010 at 3:43 pm #31184Has to be Jordi Gomez, apparently he’s tactically astute so if he sits in the stands he could pass on his knowledge and advice to those playing….. or, Caldwell as you suggested..

29 April 2010 at 4:03 pm #31193Or Koumas. What an attitude! Always willing to put the team first!
29 April 2010 at 4:18 pm #31199…who do you see as the next club captain? Maybe a question for Martinez.
How revolutionary, the manager being asked to choose the captain. :roll:29 April 2010 at 5:20 pm #31219I wasn’t implying that it was revolutionary. It would be interesting to see who he sees as “potential captains” in his current squad! As I said above, only a couple spring to mind!
30 April 2010 at 12:10 pm #31311It would probably be Bramble as he has been the captain when Mario hasnt played although I would like to see Caldwell get it.
30 April 2010 at 12:25 pm #31314Scharner, as he puts the club and all his colleagues before himself ! One of the most unasuming and humble men I have ever come across !
30 April 2010 at 1:57 pm #31335Kirk.Is that a joke or are you being serious? And I am not joking :)
Nice to see Griff…Come onto a thread again..Try to make a completely irrelevant joke and insult somebody..Then getting put straight back down a peg or 2 with the response that clearly shows he was wrong to make the comment

James, how tall are you? I’m asking because an awful lot seems to go straight over your head! ;)30 April 2010 at 2:14 pm #31342Kirk.

James, how tall are you? I’m asking because an awful lot seems to go straight over your head! ;) [/quote]Please just tell me how that makes sense? Nothing went over my head. Griff came on..Tried to be funny and failed miserably, even managed to make no sense in the ‘funny’ bit that he typed. If you cannot tell me what has gone over my head and instead come on with a daft face ( etc ) as if to say that I am daft…Then I have been proven right.
30 April 2010 at 2:14 pm #31343I think Vat makes a good suggestion, Captain Kirk certainly has a ring to it. :P
30 April 2010 at 2:20 pm #31345I think Vat makes a good suggestion, Captain Kirk certainly has a ring to it. :PNot exactly the solid, reliable player you would want as a captain though wouldn’t you say?
