For Gawds sake VAT its you that needs to lighten up or reverse your sense of humour bypass
I was merely making light of the fact that there are always key games before the fixtures that I hope fall on a hot weekend in August, April or May – more often that not they tend to wind up being midweekers. About the only honourable exception has been Blackpool this season
Incidentally I had a ticket for the Bournemouth game in 2000 – didn’t wind up going coz transport plans fell through at the last minute but the thought was there
I didn’t go in 1993 either when it fell on the same last day of the season & the Latics coffin was paraded round the away end following our relegation10 March 2011 at 9:20 pm #61795For Gawds sake VAT its you that needs to lighten up or reverse your sense of humour bypassI was merely making light of the fact that there are always key games before the fixtures that I hope fall on a hot weekend in August, April or May – more often that not they tend to wind up being midweekers. It was a great weekend. I think some Latics fans didn’t take full advantage, though, as they stayed in the hotel bar and never went out! We were all over town, sampling the pubs and bars. Good place for a session, is Bournemouth.
When we got there, we checked in the hotel and strolled down to the beach….and there was topless bathers! I thought ‘don’t get this at Blackpool!’ But it was very hot, and it’s a different climate. Most latics fans encamped in the Wetherspoons, near the park, we just went around different places.
The local Police and people were scared as anything, probably down to the behaviour of Leeds United fans there, years ago. But our lot were impeccable, and the club had letters of praise and thanks. It was scorching at Dean Court, for the match, and I might be wrong, but I’m sure they came along the terrace, either hosepiping water at us, or handing water out. Something like that.
I was down there last summer, and it’s still a great place. If the fixture happens, and works out at the right date, I am DEFINITELY going. Belting Harry Ramsdens near the pier, as well.
11 March 2011 at 11:26 am #61834I had a mate who went & said it was a good weekend
Now I/m older, wiser(???) and with a family IF we do go down & pull em at a decent time of year I may offer to take the family down & get it all booked before the wife realises I’ll be sneaking off to the football!!
I haven’t been down that way since I went on a holiday to the new forest when I was about 8

Dorset is fantastic. Brilliant in the summer for families.
I’ll probably do the family thing as well. Leave them to enjoy an ice cream at the beach, whilst we go off to the match. Get back after the game for tea at Harry Ramsdens.

   :dance:12 March 2011 at 6:20 pm #61883I said years ago that SKY will ruin the game. Actually, my dad said it first. Neither of us have ever had SKY….basically because we detest what they’ve done to the game.I was walking through the Grand Arcade last year, and some SKY salesman grabbed me and started his sales patter “we can give you this….we can give you that”, I said to him “I wouldn’t have it, even if it was free, because SKY has absolutely ruined football, and I hate them for it”.
I walked away, leaving the guy open mouthed.
WHy must you turn this board into a house of lies?
