76 lives were lost on a flight heading for Columbia last night, the passengers included a football team called Chapecoense.

As it stands at the moment, there were 3 of that football team that have survived. They were formed in 1973 and rose to the top division in Brazil two years ago.

They were en route to an International Copa Sudamericana Final 1st leg when the tragedy happened.

Yet again it put things in perspective, and it is very sad to hear about the loss of these and the other passenger’s lives.

FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

This is a terrible disaster, not just because in involves a football team. Any loss of life is awful, but because it is a part of our football community it has a certain resonance. A small club beating the best and playing in the last rounds of a big cup competition.

I hope the wider football community will do the right thing and we will all show our support and sympathies on Saturday with a display of respect and remembrance – a minutes silence or clapping. Please.

        Whatdyu reckon?

Hope so Rich. Not heard anything in the media but hope Latics can do that.

I hope so. No response from the club from my 2 letters to them suggesting it.

Someone else also suggested summut for Campbell. I agree. But if nothing else we could (you and I) clap at the appropriate minute of his number and the number killed on the flight.

There is definitely going to be a mark of respect before the game…. a minutes silence is the official word but whether that turns into something else remains to be seen…..
