A football club have bit the dust today and probably for a fraction of debt that Portsmouth have. Portsmouth owe a fortune to the tax man and we as fans are made to feel sorry for them by the media. Pompey made their bed. They still pay over inflated wages to overated players. What if they survived? They would have survived by paying masses in wages and still being allowed to owe a fortune to the tax man and elsewhere. That is just cheating and cheating with a huge C.
Yes Chester were probably mis managed too but it just makes you wonder and think that the annual salary of say one average Premier league player like Emille Heskey (who sits on the bench half the time)would keep a club like Chester ( and ourselves a few years ago) afloat for a couple of sesons. But thats football but it stinks. My heart goes out to the supporters of Chester City, the pawns in a game that is turning more and more crazy and ugly.
I cant see a grand old name like that fading away. They have passionate supporters and i can see them popping up in the lower leagues again hopefully.
It is terrible that a lovely old city has lost its football club and a result of the greed that exists in the upper echelons of the game.
A certain Ian Rush commented on their plight today in the Mirror a pity he couldn’t donate the £26k tax money they owed out of his numerous media apperences he makes
Very sad Chester going out of business….there’s just something not right about the game when players are earning 120k+ a week and a club goes out of business for owing £26,000. Shameful situation.
