Is something wrong here. I know it is Cole’s 100 Cap, but for the last few games at least Baines has been by far the more outstanding player in the Prem AND when he has taken his chance for England.
So what is it about Ashley Cole that gets him the nod every time.
Did anybody read/see what Pierce said about “the best left back England has ever had”? It was because of his professionalism and dedication – couldn’t think of anything else Stuart?
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

Only reason Cole gets picked is because he’a been widely recognised as 1 of the best left backs in the world over the years, and because he’s been a key figure in the England team for a long time.
Current form doesn’t even come in to it – he will always be in contention whether Baines shines or not.
6 February 2013 at 2:56 pm #102741Baines stats have crapped all over Cole’s for three seasons now.
We all know how the England selection policy works though and if he had signed for Man U in the summer Cole would have probably played his last game for England.

Think that’s a tad unfair. As much as I can’t stand Cole and as much as I like Baines, I don’t think there is too much to call between them.
Baines has probably got the edge going forward and Cole is slightly better at defending. I’d be happy with either of them to be honest. I think most people prefer Baines because they simply don’t like Cole as a persontwat rather than really and truly think he is a poor footballer
6 February 2013 at 4:02 pm #102746I’ve thought that Baines was better than Cole for a few years now but I have to say that I thought Ashley Cole was one of only 2 or 3 England players to come out of last years Euros with any credit (1 of the others was Glen Johnson & I’ve always thought he was cr@p).
So for me Hodgson has it right in picking the pair of em & as I feel Cole did so well in that tournament I’d probably give him the nod too but it doesn’t do any harm for him to know that he has to keep up that level coz if he lets it slip he’ll be out & probably won’t come back6 February 2013 at 4:26 pm #102750Baines stats have crapped all over Cole’s for three seasons now.

Posted that a few months ago.
While I cant guarantee the accuracy it does show Baines to be better defensively, far superior from an attacking point of view and surprisingly much better in the air!
I think Chelsea are defensively superior to Everton as a team as well which should aid Cole.
Personally I think Baines attributes would be best suited to our LWB position.
Get it done Martinez

Ashley Cole is a far better full back than Baines, Baines is ok going forward but can’t defend.

While the statistics dont lie I think Baines superiority vs Cole stems from the fact that Baines learnt his trade during Wigan Athletics magnificent rise up the football ladder.
Ashley Cole had to learn his trade on loan at some tin pot London club who’s best player doesnt play for them anymore and promotion chances rest on the tired shoulders of Kevin “Grandad” Phillips….
SEETHING ;)

Look at the f**king state of those comments Salford. I’ve rattled you winking little fruit.
You’re an absolute embarrassment of a football fan. You don’t even go to home games and I’ll give you my seat number if you want to take this to PM
