We are in the exact same position with almost identical points and goal difference for the 3rd year running and so I don’t see why some of us are surprised ! I will say it again, this club has gone as far as it can possibly go !

How could you possibly know the club has gone as far as it can go?? You can’t… I think we have a long way to go and I look forward to every minute of it :)
I also believe we will finish in a better position this season ;)
18 December 2012 at 2:18 pm #98222A whole host of reasons why we wont be progressing to what some call the next level, money being the main bugbear ! Many on here have called Steve Bruce but the stats do tell a story ! Whelan may well have asked RM to cut the wage bill but at what cost ! Skin of teeth scenario year in year out ! We have to realise that Whelan has not got the money to move us on and as we stand financially we will be in the same position until our luck finally runs out !

Which is exactly why some of us don’t get hysterical if we lose away to Norwich City.

I have said this many times now, doesn’t stop me having a moan when the players don’t bust a gut to do something about our predicament ! Too many stepping stone merchants for my liking !
19 December 2012 at 12:06 am #98270With the gap getting wider between PL and Championship every year just staying up is massive progress in itself.
19 December 2012 at 12:20 am #98273With the gap getting wider between PL and Championship every year just staying up is massive progress in itself.Correct.
And if it is to believe that we are almost at the point of breaking even, then with the TV money doubling we’re going to be in a really strong position.
19 December 2012 at 12:23 am #98275dont think we’ll go down, still better than several teams in the prem, its not great at the moment but keep the faith as they say ( calmed down a bit since saturday )

Good point eggmon especially when the Premier League chairmen are working on this which was discussed today I could almost imagine DW has been heading towards this for the past two or three seasons

Deja vu yes so what is negative about that?-teams never get relagated in december do they?
Each year the final points tally has been improved upon under Martinez and i have no doubt that this will happen again. He does an incredible job on tight resources which is why other clubs keep hovering about each close season.
We have seen some fantastic games and some amazing results against the top 4 that we certainly didnt get with Bruce and Jewell.
His teams are inconsistent and drive us all up the wall at times but you cannot argue with his loyalty and comittment to Latics. The improvement will come and we will defy the odds once again.
Easily three worse teams than us this year and i am confident we will survive this year and improve the points tally as usual.19 December 2012 at 5:20 pm #98300Spot on Vince Hill. To say we can’t go any further is stupid also filmoss. Look at what Swansea are doing at the minute it can be done!

Going off our current average, I predict we will end up with around 35 points.

QPR, Southampton, Reading and Sunderland are 4 teams I believe we are better than, probaby a few more.
In honesty I don’t think Sunderland are that bad but I think we are a better team.. Especially when our defenders are back I think we are easily better than the aforementioned teams. If we start banging couple more goals in you can add a few more teams to the above list too! B)

QPR- We’ve just drawn with.
SOUTHAMPTON- We beat at their place and MUST beat them at home.
READING- I agree they didn’t look much….yet we nearly only drew.
SUNDERLAND- Have already beaten us at their place.I’m still not convinced. At the moment, WE are among the three worst teams….the table doesn’t lie. And out of the next few games, can you honestly see us picking up many points? I can’t.
