As I said, the ticket page for the South stand showed “Limited Availability”, with less than 200 tickets in the whole of the area. Are you seriously telling me that there were 5000 in that stand? :silly: (Think back to what you’ve been going about regarding free tickets and now think who looks a bit silly)

It was the same story for the Boston Stand, where the 4 centre blocks all had less than 100 seats in (out of 940). Again, the TV footage clearly shows half-full centre blocks.

Announcing a crowd which includes 5000 FREE tickets sounds a lot better than announcing what was potentially their lowest ever Premier League Crowd. (you may well blush)

And of course the tax due to HMRC on 5000 FREE tickets = £0.00. ;) (No need to wink, as that comment is pretty pointless)

Hope that clears it up for you!

I didn’t see this pearl, and it’s far too tempting to resist.

Hope this clears it up for you:

The South stand holds 5,000 people, and as the 5,000 freebie tickets you talk of are all in the South Stand, that would mean giving out the entire stand gratis?

In actual fact, there are a couple of thousand season ticket holders in that stand as that is one of the two stands where there are substantial discounts for kids. As I said in my previous post – it’s 2,000 tickets that are on offer (I say offer, as yet again, contrary to popular belief they are not all given out free of charge) so add 2,000 season tickets to 2,000 ‘earmarked’ and let’s say for argument’s sake 500 random ticket sales, yep that’s not far off the mark is it?

The Boston Stand centre blocks? That’ll be the blocks that are almost entirely filled with season ticket holders then? Yes, those areas cleared after the third goal went in, and more so when the fourth went in. Also, I noticed from my vantage point across the other side of the pitch that they were quite slow over there at coming out after half time. So I can only presume that you arrived after half time and couldn’t see past some big bloke in front of you until the 70th minute. Either that, or you are talking crap again.

Yes, you’re right, you won’t pay tax on free tickets. You also won’t pay tax on unsold tickets, so what is your point exactly?

As I stated in my earlier post – your ‘freebie’ tickets have to be accounted for, and if they’re unused, the company/school or whatever aren’t offered them again. That little bleep noise when you scan your ticket on the way in – that actually counts and stores the data as well as freeing up the turnstile. So, if you have 11,000 bleeps, but publicly state that there were 15,000 people in the stadium, someone (The Premier League, the police, the auditors etc) will want to know how the extra 4,000 managed to get in.

There is no benefit to overstating attendances. We’ve had shockingly poor attendances in the past and have freely revealed these figures -so why change that now?

    D- must try harder.

Safc you say Wigan is known as a rugby town-my question is why????????
This drivel is trotted out time and time again as if our poor gates are attributed to the fact that we have a RL club that last attracted big gates in the 1950s and when Latics played in the lower reaches of the non league.
It s like knocking nails into a thick piece of wood so here goes the facts

WE LIVE IN THE ENGISH HOTBED OF FOOTBALL AND WE ARE DELUGED BY RIVAL CLUBS WITH BIGGER FANBASES AND HISTORY-6 RIVAL EPL WITHIN 20 MILES(NOT ONE) RADIUS.SUNDERLAND AND NEWCASTLE A HOTBED NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS DESPITE THE MEDIA INDUCED MYTH!

SOME OF OUR TOWNMATES SUPPORT THESE OTHER CLUBS BECAUSE WIGAN IS A VERY COSMOPOLIITAN TOWN WITH PLENTY OF LINKS AND HISTORY WITH LIVERPOOL AND MANCHESTER HENCE WHY THE FOUR CLUBS THERE HAVE BIG SUPPORT IN WIGAN ALWAYS HAVE DONE FOR MANY DECADES!

THE RUGBY LEAGUE HEYDAY HAS PASSED BY ABOUT 25 YEARS DUE TO THE COSMOPOLITAN NATURE OF OUR TOWN AND THE FACT WE ARE BIGGER NATIONALLY AND GLOBALLY

GO INTO ANY PUB IN WIGAN AND THE TALK IS OF FOOTBALL NOT RUGBY LEAGUE-THE TOWN PACKS UP WHEN ENGLAND ARE IN MAJOR TOURNAMENTS-DIDNT SEE THAT AT THE RECENT RL WORLD CUP SURELY THAT WOULD BE THE CASE IN A ‘RUGBY TOWN’ AS YOU PUT IT THAT ALL PUBS AND CLUBS WOULD BE PACKED DURING ‘MAJOR’ RL TOURNIES?

lets hope the above enlightens you a bit but until people start looking at the above factors and realising that ‘rugby town’ doesnt exist and hasnt done for ABOUT 2 decades then we have an almighty battle.

PS READY FOR THE NEXT NAIL!

With hindsight this guy is a wind up and I feel pretty stupid right now for biting ! I suggest you stop taking him on. Admin may know of his origins but I am guessing he is a lot closer to home than you think !

Oh he’s deffo McDuck’s newly created imaginary bum chum.

As for Sunderland I actually believe that Tuesday’s win could come back to bite them on the a*se. After a lucky , lucky win against City and then the very flattering result aginst us , they suddenly think that they are invincible and even O’Neill has said that they probably don’t need to bring anyone new in. Clubs usually have a boost in form when a new manager comes in , especially when it’s a high profile one like the media’s favourite MOM , but then things tend to return to some sort of normality. They are therefore going to be trusting the same set of players that got Bruce sacked and only a month or so ago was losing at home to us.

It’s hardly a big bubble but I look forward to seeing it burst.

i wasnt been pompus simply stating that i dont follow either form of egg chasing so rugby union or league is not important to me. My point was simply that wigan is a known rugby town.

so is leeds, leicester, hull, and your point is? zzzzzzzzzzz

This Sunderland fan was trying to get his point across but unfortunaly could’nt resist the cheap shot, which i blame the media for.
