11 days to go till the biggest sporting event in the history of wigan…………i think it will only sink in that we are in the final of the most famous domestic cup competition in sport, when i see our wafc players walking out at wembley and hear “abide with me” on a balmy may early evening.
city look like they will outnumber us (as expected, they have more season ticket holders than our entire stadium), but we will be louder and more passionate.
wembley twice in 4 weeks…………..cant wait…..COME ON WIGAN
30 April 2013 at 11:56 pm #111676I will enjoy it a lot more if we can pick up 4 points from our next two games.
1 May 2013 at 12:01 am #111679I’m going to enjoy it whatever

I’m going to enjoy it whateverHERE HERE GARSWOOD – historic season and it’ll only get better
1 May 2013 at 12:16 am #111684Twice in 4 weeks is fantastic, and an achievement never witnessed before by the sporting public of Wigan.
If we win, we’ll be back again for the Charity Shield later in the year.Wembley, three times in one year, it is still possible. Who’da thowt.
I never thought I would ever go to an FA Cup Final, never mind go there and watch my team Wigan Athletic. Still have to pinch myself.
COME ON WIGAN !!1 May 2013 at 12:27 am #111687Anonymous
exactly horc……i still cant believe we’re in the final (bare in mind our recent fa cup track record)………as i said, even after 8 cans (way down) and copious pints before the game, it will still only sink in when i hear “abide with me” as the teams line up…….
i may get stick and open a can of worms by saying this, but, i said before the 1/4 final that i’d pick a cup win and relegation (come back up within a season as players would want to play in europe & stay) over getting hammered in the final and scraping 17th on the last day.
i know the implications of relegation etc (please don’t preach them to me, i know)but as i’m that confident of bouncing back up, i’d like to have a trophy that people have heard of around the world sat in wigan as opposed to a few extra bob for staying up (which whelan will pocket half anyway) and no trophy…
each to their own…………….COME ON WIGAN
1 May 2013 at 12:30 am #111689I’d rather have both ;)
In all seriousness, I said before the semi I wanted to win that and stay up. I was more excited by getting to Europe. I wouldn’t say no to winning the final, but right now I know I’d celebrate a last minute winner to stay up against Villa more than a last minute cup winner.
What ever will be will be ;)

as i said, each to their own…..people have diff opinions on the whole issue……i think i’d remember the winning goal in a cup final as opposed to a winner in (what is essentially) just a standard premier league game
but each to their own mon goodpost

I know where you are coming from, and plenty on here hate the PL enough to be of same ilk as you.
I hate lots of things about this league, but overall I would rather have PL survival and a Cup Final win.
It’s a big ask I know, but we can be dreamers and greedy for another week or two at least.1 May 2013 at 12:42 am #111693Anonymous
was just thinking, we are on tv THREE times in SEVEN days (starting on tues) and that’s not including the potential villa game, which, if it still matters, will definitely be on tv……we’ve never had it so good

*We actually only sang the first line and the last line and hummed loudly the lines in between because none of us new the rest of the words.

No fans, no money, no history, but we’re going to Wemberley…….AGAIN.
