31 January 2016 at 1:52 pm #146954As impressive as we were yesterday we still face a real uphill battle for a top two spot with Burton and Walsall 7/8 points in front if they win their games in hand. We also have to visit both teams.
Throughout the season we have been impressive in beating teams outside the top ten but have only won two games against opposition from the top ten as it stands. No doubt this will have to change if we are to have a go at those above.
Yes they indeed have games in hand, but they still need to be won. Burton seem to be going through a wobble at the moment.
31 January 2016 at 4:09 pm #146955Of course there is room for improvement and we need to make a statement next Saturday at bramhall lane.
Our away form has been bitty and we have had ar too many draws when we should have come away with wins.
we haven’t really been in the frame for automatic promotion until now and I havent sensed the other clubs see us as a big scalp either so from this unassuming position I feel we CAN get in the top two now.
The intensity seems to have upped a gear and I felt players were scrapping and fighting a lot more yesterday as some of them could lose their places for good with one bad performance.
Promotion is very very important for the club this year as we need to extra income from away support that the championship brings.
Was yesterday the start of our golden run to promotion?31 January 2016 at 4:59 pm #146956Superb controlled performance.Sends a message to the wobbling teams above us .Roll on Sheffield a game we can win albeit a tough one. Leaving the ground overheard a couple blokes moaning “we should have put 8 past em “…can’t please everyone.
31 January 2016 at 5:21 pm #146957I don’t think it’s a case of people moaning, i said more or less the same myself, i think it was more a statement of how well we played and the chances created, an exciting three months ahead for us mate. :)
Fuck the EFL
31 January 2016 at 5:28 pm #146958Vince, i meant room for improvement with the home support.

31 January 2016 at 5:45 pm #146959Throughout the season we have been impressive in beating teams outside the top ten but have only won two games against opposition from the top ten as it stands.Vale were in the top ten before yesterdays match and would have been 7th if they had won the match.
31 January 2016 at 5:54 pm #146960Absolutely outstanding performance today against a side pushing for the play offs.
Some of the football played was from a higher level and have a feeling they could blitz this league from now on.
Btw what the effing hell where that bunch of vale clowns doing being escorted through the home sections shortly after kick off ?
Coukd have been nasty anyone know why they got in to the home end? They were the Pepper Boys.
Donny & Horc will know who we mean !
Big Mark would have sorted them out, after he had cried for a steward of course.
Six foot six and built like a brick shithouse and he left me, you, Donny and my owd fella to deal with them.
With the size of him if he’d have moved toward them. they’d have run squealing all the way back to Burslem.31 January 2016 at 5:57 pm #146961Best performance of the season today, I can’t find one thing to whinge about after that.
And a Will Grigg hat trick too.Sorry Horc, but I can: the first goal should have been credited to Janic – they did me out of £110 booty !
Not as expensive as your West Ham flutter though.
31 January 2016 at 6:00 pm #146962Attendance 9,627, with around 1400 from Vale.So still plenty room for improvement
That was a decent turn out from Vale and so was Chesterfield’s a couple of weeks back.
Considering both their home attendances, they both made Sheff Utd’s turnout look a bit pityful.1 February 2016 at 11:40 pm #146966sorry bull it I misunderstood however the teams performances still leave room for improvement especially away from home.
Saturday was easily the best performance of the season and can’t see anything but automatic promotion from the team this year if thy is anything to go by.
The crowds leave a lot to be desired I agree but no doubt a few 2005-6 replica tops are being washed as we speak and those fair weather johnnie come latelys will surely return to boost the crowds.2 February 2016 at 12:29 am #146967Agreed Vince, my thoughts exactly!
Had a £20 bet with a Sheffield lad today that we turn the Blades over on Saturday, the daft bugger gave me the draw as well!

It may be you who’s the daft bugger mate, you can get almost 2/1 for a Wigan win on Bet365. OK you got the draw which is good, but double yer money???
From Matlock to ManU
