    :unsure:

    Middlesborough are 2 points below us and they have sent Tony Mowbray on his way…….I was so disappointed when Bob left us…i think he was as shocked as anyone when we were finally relegated and, because his job at Everton had already been sorted (i feel quite sure of this), he left us in the lurch!
    As a manager, he was frustrating, stubborn, skilled etc…& I sometimes wished he would go BUT, he brought style, admiration and flattering attention to ‘Little Wigan’ and, if he’d had the funding, he would have brought us success in the premiership…….along with being the FA cup holders 2013.
    Im ashamed to say, i wanted him to fail at Everton but l now realize that, with the right financial backing etc, he is proving that he is and will be a very successful manager (he has had a certain amount of luck on his side as well!!)

    I was initially down in the dumps with losing so many of our players but I was prepared to sit back this season, enjoy the football, not feeling stressed! and, after the inital purchase of new players, was feeling quite optimistic…..if we didnt make the premiership this season, ok, next will be fine.
    However, i don’t feel confident at all, we are slipping down the ranks.
    I am going to be patient, and i’ll never stop supporting Latics, but can’t help feeling despondent :(

    The difference is Mowbray has been with Middlesbrough for 3 years as opposed to 3 months.

    out of 6 home games (including Maribor) we have won 4 and drawn 2, scoring at least 2 on each occasion;
    in the league we have more points than games played and a positive goal difference;
    I also enjoyed the times when we played ‘better’ football in previous years (including under Martinez) but you need to be able to pick out the positives or despondency is inevitable
    if winning every game is what you are looking for then you are at the wrong club in the wrong sport

    And we actually played well against Forest. Maribor were poor opposition but the others games were very close and relied on late goals for the results.

    Kazan will be a much sterner test than Maribor. Chelsea beat them 5-4 on aggregate in the Europa League last season.

    Derby – now eighth in the table – sacked Clough last month. He’s signed for Sheffield United today.

    Player

      Again Clough was at Derby for numerous years Derby management decided he had taken them as far has he could I’m not sure what the original poster is getting at but if he want’s a revolving door policy regarding management like in the early Whelen years I don’t think it will work just see Sunderland for example 6 managers in 6 years
