East Standers. You are our voice.
This lad is the first player for a long time to sign a new contract whilst there was interest from other clubs.
Please can we make the lad feel wanted? Show him a bit of love.
Even if it’s the old tried and tested format of ‘Do-do-do, Maynor Figuero’.
Any chance lads?
30 January 2010 at 4:53 am #20499Don’t be so naive fella. He’s just as bad as the rest of the greedy barstewards in the Prem.
Double his wages and guess what? He signs a new contract!!
I’ve got a song for him, it goes summat like this. . . . . .
One greedy bast*rd, there’s only one greedy bast*rd.
He’ll be off in the summer, regardless of the “new, improved contract”
And the fact that he can’t actually defend just makes it worse!!!!

Appley, I know that as well as you do, I’m just trying to get the ‘youff’ to gee the lad along a bit. Bit of encouragement works wonders. Think you might have scuppered that plan though!
30 January 2010 at 5:08 am #20504It’ll take more than ES2 to gee this lad up a bit!!
But i’m afraid Fig just winds me up more than any other player I can remember in a Latics shirt (well, maybe Neil Morton as well!!)
I seem to spend 90 minutes yelling at him to mark his man. He’s constantly 15 – 20 yards away and you just don’t get away with it in the Premier League.
I’ve stated on here in the past about the amount of goals conceded down the left side because of Figs’ lack of positional sense, it’s shocking!
Everyone remembers his wonder strike at Stoke, but 2 minutes later he loses his marker (again) and they score. Nobody remembers this because of “that goal”
Get Kevin Sharp, Allen Tankard or Gavin Johnson back. Proper defensive left backs!!
The last bit was a joke by the way!!!! I meant Greg Strong ;)
30 January 2010 at 12:19 pm #20509I’ve got an idea. Why doesn’t the rest of the ground try giving some support to the whole team? Martinez fits in well in front of the West Stand, silent with arms folded.
You get a lot of people on here saying you should support the lads, be interesting to see how many actually do.30 January 2010 at 12:53 pm #20510He really want’s Wigan to do well not like some of the others, eg. Kapo (left on loan). Overall, the players respect were Wigan have come from and that they should give 100% for each-other.
30 January 2010 at 2:57 pm #20519You know I was actually shocked when I read Appley’s comment. I surprised myself because I come on here reading so much shit and squealing about this team we support.
But I genuinely thought Figs signing a new contract was excellent news and all Latics fans would agree with that.
I stand in the East and listen to a “panel” behind me generally picking on one player per match even if we are winning.
I really do think that you people must have terrible lives if you can only see the negatives in everything. You really need to see somebody… preferably on a Saturday at 3pm.

Said all along that I don’t rate Figs. He makes that many cock-ups that he only gets away with because of his pace (his first touch is woeful) and he couldn’t mark Stephen Hawking.
Edman gets slated for his performance against Spurs but I doubt Figs would have done any better.
31 January 2010 at 9:17 pm #20735I like Figueroa, he’s a hard, strong left back with a lot of strengths BUT in the last 2 games he has been at fault for 2 winning goals.
1st the Kalinic winner at Ewood then the Cahill goal yesterday. Figueroa was suppose to be marking both these players and failed to do so which resulted in goals and defeats. He fell over his own man yesterday when trying to track Cahill and the Kalinic goal was just poor defending.
A lot of the time the header will be off target or saved BUT on these 2 occasions in the last 2 games they have resulted in goals.
