Well that’s it, pre season over and the ridiculous window bang shut and thank goodness we can now start to win the league in style.
Really pleased all our key players are there. A bit sad to loose Daniels and Gilbey as these were two players many of us missed last season but I would rather see those two gone along with other fringe players rather than our main group but to keep them some savings on wages had to be made plus the younger lads can get game time they need.
A little bit worried that there is little cover up top but say Grigg and Toney were both injured Powell could cover there. Not much cover for Powell now Gilbey has gone but I am sure we could move things around a little.
The main thing is we have something we havnt had for a long time and that is a smaller squad which will cut down on the swapping and changing and give us a consistent regular first team.
A little worried at first we didn’t have enough cover for injuries etc and about the manager signing his drinking chums
but the old headed short contract players may not have the legs and won’t replace the main players but could be useful as cover and experience in any job counts. All together the plusses far outweigh the negatives and I am so relieved and look forward to the season really starting.
