Fair enough, its hasn’t worked for the authorities yet anyway if it were the case. Maybe if it actually seemed random and fair for a change then in a strange way that might be the season we go down.
Think we do better when the chips are down.
17 June 2011 at 1:54 pm #67852Come on Griff, its just an observation. Got to admit its strange how those fixtures have come out.

It’s not strange at all. Believe me, I know – I used to compile fixtures. You have an algorithm/model/formula, call it what you like, in which the fixture matrix is set up as AvB, CvD, etc home and away for all the weeks in the season.
Each team is then assigned a letter within that model. Teams can be ‘paired’ so that, for example, Liverpool and Everton are never at home at the same time.
Also, pairing might be applied to ensure that as few London teams are at home at the same time as possible, to satisfy policing requirements.
Some clubs that share stadiums with other teams/sports may also be allocated to a ‘letter’ which provides for that.
The more of the above types of restrictions or considerations that there are, the less ‘letters’ are available for the rest of the clubs that have no such restrictions. As a consequence, it is quite a difficuly balancing act that the authorities have to perform anf it is perfectly reaonable to excpect that some teams will have the same/similar position in the algorithm year on year.
So, it may look like a conspiracy but it most definitely is not.
When i need to read something more than twice i decide that it cannot be deciphered
17 June 2011 at 1:57 pm #67853To be fair we were hardly looking over our shoulders last year, mostly it was looking over the should of the teams in front of us.
Aye that was sort of what I was implying but worded it a bit daft.
17 June 2011 at 2:14 pm #67855We are up for it.
17 June 2011 at 2:27 pm #67857Good fixtures for me, Martinez hopefully has learnt from last season against Blackpool first game !correct, this is the whole essence of next season …
we need to be determined to get points in addition to playing nicely – just as we did in the back end of last season
lessons learnt, time to move on to ‘the next level’ – now or never17 June 2011 at 2:54 pm #67861You could have waited a bit longerand delayed moaning until July at least
miserable gits

What’s the matter with you now. What have we said against Wigan Athletic or anybody connected with them. You could have waited until :teasing-blah: July before you started moaning about the possibility of people saying anything against them.
17 June 2011 at 4:33 pm #67874End to season could have been worse though. Good for last game to be at home.
Have you seen aprils fixtures chelski, utd, arsenal all title contenders, and at this stage of the season will be looking for 3pts and nothing else and 3 losses on the bounce could damage our confidence coming into the last month17 June 2011 at 4:42 pm #67877Anonymous
I seem to remember arsenal needing 3 points, no less on the 18th april 2010

17 June 2011 at 9:14 pm #67896How can people moan at that??
A lower half standard team at home first game and a lower half standard team at home last game.
The ideal opportunity to get off to a good start.
Winnable last 3 games.
Plus we play the big teams all at once in December and from late March meaning a greater possibility of us going on a bit of a run against the lesser teams – in October, November, Feb & March for example. Compared to last season when we couldn’t get a run going due to the harder games being spread out.
