Paul Scharner Oh Oh Oh Oh He came from Austria Is he off to Rapid Feffinitz!!!!

      Friday 30th July

As it was raining again! it was decided to firstly have a longer lie in and then head to the Thermal resort of Warmbad Villach, world famous for their healing powers!! As 2 members of the party had gout we were hoping for a miracle cure!! When we arrived we first ended up in a farm, then found the location which was in the process of being demolished!! Apparantly a new one will be ready in 2 years. Fortunately, one of the 5 star hotels next to the resort had temporary facilities available which resulted in 2 pools, one hot one cold. After a brief swim and the realisation that Nicholas would not find a cure for his beer belly, we exited the premises and headed for the pub at the station to drown our sorrows. After a few more pints we headed back into town.

Our evenings entertainment was to take strange twist. We headed to the Stadion Lind to watch the 1st league game of the season between Villach and Maria Saal. The excitement in the ground was building and reached fever pitch as the Doctor realised that was about to pinch his Latics flag and then the Ultras positioned themselves directly behind us much to Nicholas,s horror! Villach raced into a 5-0 half time lead and more beers were consumed.

No sooner had the 2nd half commenced, a familiar figure walked straight passed us and we immediately recognised the said as gentleman as Paul Scharner. He positioned himself in the VIP area for the rest of the game. Myself and Nicholas thought it would be an excellent photo opportunity, so after grabbing another pint and the Doctors flag we found a seat directly behind Mr Scharner. The game finished 7-1 (more goals on aggregrate than we had seen all week) and we proceeded to collar Paul and pleasantries were exchanged and photos taken with the Latics flag. He revealed he had no club at the moment and had visited the Latics training camp, but quashed the rumours that he was on the verge of signing for SV Rapid Feffernitz!!! After wishing Paul all the best we headed back into town.

After a brisk walk back into town we headed for the Rock Bar we had visited several times and played darts and listened to Flogging Molly on the jukebox much to Nicholas´s delight. We were again forced (against our better judgement) to indulge in several funny coloured local cocktails courtesy of our friends in the pub!! We then had one or two more pints,a kebab and called it a night!!
