with Aston villa now looking like their safe, it now look as though it’s between us, the Toon and Norwich. I think Sunderland are safe with Stoke, Saints and Spurs to play, but with Newcastle at QPR and then at home to Arsenal, they look far from safe. Harry will have Rangers playing for their pride, and won’t want lose at home, and way Newcastle are playing lately it don’t look good. Arsenal want play in Champions League next season, so will look for result at home, especially if we surprise them their again. As for Norwich, a win will see them safe, but I only see them getting just a point from West Brom at home and City away. Now, if this scenario was to happen, with the extra game, it’s in our hands KEEP THE FAITH and BELIEVE
5 May 2013 at 3:03 pm #112223Why do you disregard Sunderland; they have to beat Stoke yet, and I don’t think that will be easy ! C’mon Stoke, keep Di Canio in the mix. Furthermore Sunderland don’t have Sesanyong.

Beat Swansea then it really is all to play for.
All those teams above knows we can win 3 out of 3 and reach 44 points. That would leave a lot of teams still in it.
Spoke to my Villa mate last night, whilst obviously he’s happier than he was before Norwich, he’s doubtful they will get another point.
A lot of teams who thought they were safe now know they’re not.
5 May 2013 at 7:27 pm #112241Stoke still need get something from their remaining games to make sure, a point at sunderland is probably their best bet.
5 May 2013 at 7:35 pm #112242nobody is safe in the bottom half.
If we win our game in hand Villa are in it most of all having to play us last game of the season ;)

To be honest the way things are at the moment, it could be better if villa beat chelsea next weekend and have nothing to play for when they come to us.
Worrying about what others do is pointless, beat swansea on tuesday and the others will ALL be in panic mode when they play at the weekend, while we are basking in the glory of a Wembley FA Cup final.

True. Win all three remaining games and it won’t matter a jot
5 May 2013 at 10:07 pm #112258Everybody from Stoke downwards is at risk.
Sunderland will be in very great danger if they fail to beat Stoke tomorrow.
Villa are five points ahead of us. On Saturday they play Chelsea, who are chasing points to qualify for the Champions League. We need to keep Villa within six points, win our game in hand, and beat them in the final game.
We do need to beat Swansea. They have relaxed since their League Cup win in February. They beat Newcastle 1-0 on 2 March, but have not won in seven matches since. And now Michu is out with a hamstring injury.
5 May 2013 at 10:24 pm #112260We could have done with The Mancs beating Chelsea this afternoon.
We really need them to beat Villa next weekend but if they beat Spurs on Wednesday they may not be so motivated !!

indeed, well spotted, not only that but they’ve also benfica wednesday next to prepare for.
beat spurs (4th spot guaranteed) and benitez will pull another stunt as he did at liverpool when they went down to fulham at craven cottage some years back (contributory factor in sheff utd. being relegated).
warnock had the pleasure of meeting benitez at the leeds / chelsea cup game earlier this season !!

Looks like the bookies think we’re down. Let’s hope we can alter those odds tonight. Stoke at 500/1 with Bet365 has got to be work a cheaky £2 punt.
7 May 2013 at 2:10 pm #112427West Ham were relegated with 42 points, I know. But Stoke already have 41 points, two games to play and nine teams below them. Keep your money in your pocket – they will survive.
It’s hard to predict who will go down. If Wigan win tonight, there will be several worried managers. Sunderland play Southampton on Sunday – the loser of that game will be in great danger.
The odds will be different again tomorrow.
7 May 2013 at 2:18 pm #112428Assuming we win against Swansea and Villa (and get nothing from Arsenal) I think the twitchiest will be Norwich and Newcastle.
If Newcastle don;t get three points at QPR (by no means a certainty) I think they will be gone.
I can easily see Norwich getting nothing from both their games against West Brom and City.
We simply HAVE to win two of our three though, starting tonight. And I am going to contradict myself and break my own rules on the mathematical front and say that, because I am expecting to lose at Arsenal, tonight is now a must win game.
