1st half team selection handed Luton 3 pts…simple as that. Commentator saying Luton a good side…..bulls@@@. They are bang average and mark my words will not be getting promoted. Adeeko,Brennan for 2 should be on bench. His selections paid an average side too much respect. Goal goes in and we’re chasing the game …Costelloe, Saydee should have started. ..get at them early. Instead we start with a 0-0 set up.that survived 9 minutes .People are entitled to a different view but 70% of the teams in this league are nothing special including Luton but we set up like we were visiting Anfieild……..Injuries are another along with ropey fitness levels which Imo are no better than last season. Yes lost 1-0……but very, very disappointed with the mindset……..Tinkerman 2 ?????
19 August 2025 at 10:31 pm #205982It’s a tricky one to be honest, it’s a long day today for the players coupled with an early start this Saturday some players had to be rested but I’m not so sure resting five was such a good idea.
Their goal was a simple mistake by both Trevitt then Wright. Trevitt for not closing down and getting tight. The Luton player had enough time to pump up the ball before crossing it then Wright was caught napping letting Saville nip in on his blind side to score the winner.
Mullins miss was awful, again, that’s the second “one on one” hes missed recently. A player with a goal scoring record should be more composed in those situations, he has to 100% bag it.
Also, we just have to be careful with inhuries. We’ve 8 games in August including tonights we have 4 games in next 11 days.
I understand you play your strongest 11 and those rested will no doubt be r for the Rotherham game. Lowes juggling along with trying to find his best 11 it’s a tough tough task but he’s making progress which is all we can ask.
We had our chances, the Weir header, Aimson’s shot then Aimson’s crossbar post effort and the keeper scramble from Kerr and let’s not forget the Tickle half effort at the death, sometimes you just need a bit of luck.
Yes I’m disappointed we didn’t get anything but that could have easily been a 2-2.
Overall I thought had lady luck looked down in us we could have got a point. I liked the way Lowe changed our shape and the team still created opportunities. he’s also proved he’s not scared to throw all his eggs into the one basket late on bring on 4 attacking players.
It’s not perfect, granted, it’s definitely a work in progress but let’s face it, it’s still better than watching Tickle rolling it out to Kerr to Aimson to Kerr to Aimson 93 on the clock 1-0 down
19 August 2025 at 10:51 pm #205985Good points but to put pressure on them, rattle home fans then we needed our best attacking set up from the off……give it a go ….then swap later on. Not bring em on like international rescue to save the day.For me it’s a Poor decision by Lowe.
20 August 2025 at 6:33 am #205986Reading into Lowes post match interview a couple were carrying knocks and one player was in hospital overnight with illness but he didn’t say who.
It’s frustrating I get your point start off with your best then replace later but although we lost at least we went down trying and didn’t look awful.
I like the way he gave the centre half’s (well Aimson really) the permission to push up high. That confused Luton as no one was picking them up.
But the unsung hero was Tickle who pulled off a couple of good saves. If any of those go in it would have been lights out, heads down and game over. Let’s pray we can keep hold of him for another 12 months
20 August 2025 at 8:28 pm #205987To go to a club like Luton with a huge budget and players to match and run them close shows how far this club have come in a short space of time.
Just need to move on quickly and focus on Saturday and the three points on offer.
Lots of positives and an exciting season ahead me thinks.21 August 2025 at 6:12 am #205989At least Lowes prepared to make changes not only players but tactics (one up front). He also gave Aimson licence to push up top of and when which kinda threw Luton a curved ball and he wasn’t been picked up.
Then he went basically with 4 attacking players to try and nick a point.
At the end of the day, we have to be realist. We can’t compete with Luton financially or Huddersfield and a few more so we have to box clever.
Put it this way, I’m far happier watching that than some of the sh*t we watched under Maloney.
The one position I still feel we’ve not got right is some physicality in the middle. Some big strong unit who’ll intimidate the centre of the park.
We just seem a bit lightweight, its like an u18’s against an open age side physically wise.
Can anyone explain what Sessegnon’s doing?, Has he signed or is he leaving? or on a monthly. I thought his contract ran out June 25?.
This is another area we need to clear up, injuries and players who need to move on. I’d say we’ve 4-6 players who are if what when we’re or why.
There’s only a couple of weeks left in the window so I hope if a few leave there might be room for 1 or 2 more incomings.
But yeah, an experienced big arsed midfielder would be nice, sit, hold, and bully but overall were not shaping too bad.
I personally think that, if Matty Smith was fit he’d be gone this summer. With one year left and his injury list I’m positive Lowe would get rid and bring in a new face but you can’t loan or sell an injured player at this level.
The managers trying his best with restrictions financially, the players are giving their all and their responding to Lowes demands so tbh we currently can’t ask for more.
My only niggling doubt is, although we have numbers some of the fringe players won’t be good enough when we’re hit hit with injuries to key players but only time will tell
