It is a form of begging of course but back in my day the excuse for trying to scrounge money off people was “penny for the guy”, which was so much better because the begging wasn’t confined to the one night.
It is amusing though to see the look of disappointment on their faces when you give them a Mars Fun Size instead of money.
Halloween……
the one night where you actively encourage your kids to go up to strangers, speak to them, and actually BEG to them.
P.S. I bet there are a few adults cringing tonight about the time they knocked at Jimmy Savile’s asking for “Trick or Treat”. :ohmy:
We go round our cul-de-sac with Ethan and all he is interested in is sweets which luckily for him is all that is on offer ! Nobody gives money these days as we have adopted the American Halloween candy giving traditions !
