Does anyone have Sky broadband, I had it installed last week and am having problems accessing various sites – this being one of them, I had no problems with my virgin(cable network)but since I switched to sky and had a BT line installed I amy getting lots of grief.
I can read the board, but not log on, and even though I have saved my username and password it wont let me on at home(yet here I am now sat outside a McDonalds on their Cloud Network with no connection problems)
Some sites it wont even let me browse them, sky have said its my computer settings and played with them, they also say its an IP address conflict from the sites I am trying to get on, they are only fishing and shooting sites, nothing iffy, it all works ok at McDonalds and work just not at home on the SKY broadband.
The help I need is does anyone have sky broadband, so I can do a check if they can access the sites I am talking about.

Try installing Opera or Firefox and it should set up with clean settings and see if you have the same problems. Sounds like you might have settings configured from your previous internet provider, like proxy servers or something like that. Other option is to download the latest update for internet exporer, uninstall and then install again.
16 March 2012 at 2:31 pm #83253According to my computer expert friend it sounds almost certainly like a DNS problem so here is a link !!

16 March 2012 at 5:53 pm #83269Clear your cache, usually works for me
16 March 2012 at 10:46 pm #83285Yeah, clear your cache, I think in times gone by, that would translate as “throw your rag mags out”

I use internet explorer, my daughter uses a mixture of IE and google chrome to browse on her laptop and my son uses only firefox – I cant get on the sites I want via their computers either, it is a network problem not computer.

Phil can you do me a favour then, cand you see if you can get on these TWO sites via your sky broadband connection.
http://www.talkangling.co.uk
and
http://www.guntrader.co.ukThese are two of the sites (i know of) that wont let me access at all, others like cockneylatic, i have restricted access ie. I cant log on through sky but as now no problem through my works BT connection, I am also on the two sites above at the moment as well with no problems.
As I read about the DNS problem you posted it sounds like that, and have told sky to look in that area but they have not solved it or come back to me yet.If you just post on here if you access the sites, I can read your results but will be unable to respond until monday at work or perhaps a trip to an open wi-fi network like mcdonalds.
david gray – thanks for your reply but its not my cache – sky have played with all my computer settings and not come up with any solutions, and the problem is compounded by the fact i have full access via other broadband service providers other than sky.
