At least RL doesn’t try to duck & dive and fill his post match interview with excuses. In my eyes, that earns him more respect if he makes an honest assessment of our performances that align with our observations. It will be an interesting watch to see how quickly his “first eleven” comes together. We might not have won today, but I think most of us enjoyed the second half. It was good to see Matt Smith orchestrating the midfield; let’s hope this is only the start of something good.
31 August 2025 at 12:38 am #206045The one thing he does that he’s a dab hand at, is making the correct subs at the correct time.
Today I was saying Saydee needed to be replaced with Mullin because been truthful he had a poor game but Lowe took off Costelloe then Saydee scores which again he got spot on. That’s why I’m in the stands and he’s on the bench.
It was a tale of 2 half’s and I thought we deserved all 3 points but it wasn’t to be. Matty Smith has come back from injury in beast mode not just on the ball but off it as well.
He changed the game and the club need to get him and his agent around the boardroom table and bash out a new contract.
31 August 2025 at 10:00 am #206047Yes very impressed with his substitutions , not making them to keep people happy just to change the team fortunes.
The changes most certainly changed the team in the second half and the game could easily have gone our way however let’s not forget Tickles superb performance once again with that brilliant save in the second half.I agree also the managers interviews post match are also very open and he doesn’t hold back to protect egos when he doesn’t like something.
Tbat was a very good point yesterday and the roar of the crowd was very loud , as loud as I have heard it for some time which is great.
An interesting time again to be a Latics supporter , this team can only get better but seems to be doing so each game and a play off position or a fight for one has to be the aim.
31 August 2025 at 1:26 pm #206048Imagine what substitutions SM would have made yesterday; at 1-1 he would have packed defence & midfield, instead of attacking and trying to win the game.
31 August 2025 at 7:37 pm #206049Interestingly; listen to Dave Challinor’s post match interview on You Tube.
Tell me what you think.
1 September 2025 at 8:57 pm #206050Watched the interview from the Stockport manager and it’s clearly obvious he had just railroaded his team.
I felt they played well in the main and look a strong outfit that will be amongst it at the end of the season.
Good to see old school managers like him and Ryan not pussyfooting around players and blowing smoke up their backsides for no reason, just saying it like it is.
2 September 2025 at 11:25 am #206053Agree but today’s footballers are of a different breed. Were not too bad in the lower leagues as it tends to be mainly UK players hence why alot of Prem managers fall foul of some of the foreign melts.
Lowe just has to remain honest as that’s what players respect regardless whether they agree just the honesty then they know were the stand when their not in the squad on a match day.
Managers walk that that fine line in a daily basis. I’ve said this for years, the best managers aren’t Amorim and his draughts board it that manager who unites a side and can keep those not playing regular football happy.
For now Lowes got it right but he’s still in his honeymoon period. Let’s see how he manages players comes the next window
