have represented our club and played in the famous Blue & White ?
C’mon anoraks ( no offense intended ) out there, give us a summary. The number has to be significant and thus evidence that flies in the face of our Chairman being a racist.
21 November 2014 at 2:27 pm #135887It proves nothing of the sort.
It just proves that foreign players are generally cheaper.
21 November 2014 at 2:34 pm #135891Old habits die hard for some these ” I died in two World wars ” types! I think it is more naivety than ignorance!

Don’t agree at all. A racist would increase his Kudos amongst certain circles by putting policy into practice. Anyway, I have to question your use of foreign in reference to a person; we are all equal human beings and your adjective of foreign only serves to start the separation.

That’s utter shite.‘Amongst certain circles’? I’m not trying to make him out to be a neo-Nazi or a member of the KKK!
He has outdated views – similar views are shared by members of my extended family, and whilst not being the views of an out and out racist, they can certainly be offensive to some people in this day and age.
This is the same Dave Whelan who said he would never appoint a foreign manager (then appointed Roberto Martinez and Uwe Rosler).
I’m sure he would love to sign an all English squad, but he stands by his managers’ decisions, and their decisions have led them to sign foreign players. If a foreign player is cheaper than his English counterpart, of course he’ll approve the signing.
(Foreign: adj. Located away from one’s native country. Of, characteristic of, or from a place or country other than the one being considered)

Contrary to Standish, I see your point; which just goes to show that we all have views and opinions that differ to a degree. It’s called freedom of speech; but invariably that freedom is being taken away from us.
21 November 2014 at 3:37 pm #135918Nobody – on here – is accusing Whalean of being racist.
He is guilty of using racist language that isn’t acceptable anymore which makes him naive and ignorant.

And I’ll reiterate, signing foreign players just means they are cheaper than their English counterparts.Or unless Whelan is actively promoting an equal equalities recruitment scheme within the playing staff?

I had you down for more of an intellect than that Standish if that post wasn’t supposed to be tongue in cheek .
I think employing all those nationalities proves the point that Whelan is not a racist in the real meaning of the word.
Coming out with what some people think is a racist comment, doesn’t mean your a racist. I think Whelan thought 100% that he hadn’t said anything racist, at he’s age he is probably not in touch with the top PC stuff, which IMHO is getting way, way out of hand and seems to be all one way. It appears that its only British people who are racist, yet we get called poms by the Aussies with reference to ‘Prisoners of Mother England’ or ‘Prisoner of His/Her Majesty, referring to the convicts who were transported to Australia. Do we pull the PC card?
What about the Paddy and Mick jokes that we have all laughed at, I’ve been to Ireland a few times and they think those jokes are funnier than we do.
Have you heard anyone on TV calling jocks tight fisted gits? no outrage from the Scottish people. One of the main problems as I see with some of these issues, is that Regionalism is getting totally confused with Racism. :(
From Matlock to ManU
