How do think we would fare if we played in the Scottish Prem 4th or 5th happen ?? Or does anyone think we would do better than that :?:

challenge for 1st.
14 September 2010 at 9:28 pm #46363We would walk it as its on a level with the First Division at best.
The only reason Rangers or Celtic sometimes do okay against Premier League teams is because its their Cup Final.
Being massive underdogs in one off matches is great, and sometimes reaps dividends, but if they played PL teams week in week out, instead of the other Scottish villages they would struggle to survive a season.
i honestly feel our squad would be too strong over a season even for the best teams in the Scottish League to cope with.
14 September 2010 at 9:38 pm #46366Just looked at the Rangers team and wouldn’t swap any of them for our starting 11, that includes Lee Mac. :o
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!15 September 2010 at 12:04 am #46390I think we’d have every chance of winning the SPL, certainly be one of a big 3. They struggle to attract or afford Championship players at the moment.
15 September 2010 at 1:58 am #46409challenge for 1st.Have you wet your pants yet?
15 September 2010 at 11:55 am #46432It all comes down to money, Celtic and Rangers only get £4-5m a year in TV money, which if Latics had that cash we wouldnt be able to compete at all. Possibly a SPL side at best.
If we went in with our £50m a year, we would compete in the top 4. If you look at the Old Firms record against premier league teams, they wouldnt be a push over.
If Celtic and Rangers came into the Premiership, there is little reason to beleive they couldnt compete.

so you think we could compete for top spot in the SPL ?
the worst rangers team in years got a 0-0 at ot last night
we got battered 5-0 at a canter twice last season and have been beaten by them in every meeting in the premiership
so what does anyone base this competing theory on ?perhaps we should adopt the cup final strategy against man u – oh i forgot they drubbed us 4-0 in a real final as well.
15 September 2010 at 2:20 pm #46446Thats why I think 4th or 5th I am just being realistic !

Well, we beat St Mirren easily enough, didn’t we? ;)
I think 4th or 5th would be a reasonable target, too. Wouldn’t like to think we’d be relegated.
15 September 2010 at 3:05 pm #46454Lee Mac gets a game for them. He wasn’nt even any good when he was here :|
I think we would win it :)
15 September 2010 at 3:11 pm #46456As I say we couldnt compete on their income. !

And probably the worst Man Utd team in years.

Yet they did manage to win it with him in the team, didn’t they?
