Boy I’m glad Lowes had to nuts to come out and say he’s looking for more robust players.
Although Matt Smith is an excellent play maker and Francois is supposedly half decent they can’t affect games from the treatment room.
Smiths turning into a players who’s carrer will be short-lived due one after another pull or strain and Francois ain’t that far behind.
Were sniffing around the lad from Lincoln but at 24 I can only see him going to Swansea if they come calling.
Personally I’d stick Mellish in the middle as a defensive holding type similar to how Naylor played then fill the role in front of him but that’s me.
But this middle of the park position, the orchestrator needs to be of a higher quality so £££ will be the only way we’ll attract that bit of quality.
The one player I do like is Costelloe. He looks like the type of player who reads the game and knows we’re to be when the ball comes in.
I still think we’re a centre half short as well for cover and as for Tickle ? I think he’ll be gone before the window shuts.
At least Lowes not holding any punches back,
In the famous words of Roy Walker
“Say what you see”
If we’re to challenge and get out this division he has to be ruthless so I don’t think he’ll be the players best friends
24 July 2025 at 8:23 am #205839Lowey is now seeing what the fans saw last season and like us must be frustrated, at least he has the balls to go public and let us fans know his intentions and what he’s trying to do about it, not the mard arse approach that Maloney let the players get away with.
There are five or six that need shipping out that either aren’t good enough or unreliable, Mellish, Cody, Weir, Hungbo, M.Smith and Jonny Smith if he doesn’t start to be a bit more consistent.
Well done Lowey!
Fuck the EFL
24 July 2025 at 2:16 pm #205840Totally agree…some saying he has to be careful he doesn’t alienate some players with this slightly abrasive approach……bollocks!!….a breath of fresh air. How’s about us being alienated with the soft arse management approach last season?. Latest rumour is we now in pole position to sign Ethan Erhahon from Lincoln, rated as 1 of league 1’s best last season…..would be a serious signing. Huddersfield throwing money around like confetti but sorry for being optimistic but I don’t think we’ll be far away…….took 40/1 ea/way to win league, 12/1 to get promoted and my most hopeful bet 5/1 to finish top 6. 8 days to go …..getting giddy!!
25 July 2025 at 3:24 pm #205841Erhahon going to Noblot. Didnt take them long to spend the George Thomasson money from Wrexham. 🙄
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!26 July 2025 at 11:10 am #205842Would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed, particularly going to that turd pit. Money talking i suppose…..they seem to filling their egg basket up so let’s hope promotion eludes them again and see where financially they are then,f###### hopefully. Got a shrewd manager though so i think theyll be up there.Still think we are still short in the middle ,hope we can address that . Season a week off and should have been resolved by now.
27 July 2025 at 8:52 am #205843The truth is with Erhahon, we inquired about him and I think he met up but we never actually placed a bid and that’s the truth.
How many of us had actually heard of him prior to all this interest. I’m not been funny but, if he was as good as £700-£750k I’m sure one or two Championship clubs would have come in not just a low ball Swansea bid.
Then the players stats ?,not very good to be honest, goals assists poor.
He’s took a side step on a 4 year deal, Norwich are mega gambling on going up this season. They lost £11.2million last year, they owe a loan payment of £1.375million on the 1st of August and they’ve brought in 7 players quite a few on permanent deals.
Sharon Brittan did a recent interview were she slightly hinted about leaving so not all is good up at Horwich.
Don’t worry chaps I think Lowes got a few targets in mind and even making an approach with Erhahon means he’s got money on the table to spend.
There’s over a month to go before the window goes and there’ll be an awful lot of activity before it shuts. My fear is, one or two in our squad are lightweights meaning prone to knocks.
We need some bully in the middle. Now I might get some stick so tin hat goes on but I fancy Mellish to step up to the plate if he’s put in the middle just to break things up like Naylor use to do.
My only fear is, Lowe comes down a bit too hard. His comments about players and injuries (all be it is right) might be misconstrued by the players and they take a disliking to him.
Lowe has to be careful how he walks that line with the players. One wrong step and it will all go pear shaped the last thing we need is Lowe losing the changing room for coming down too hard on one or two.
Not long to go now before the season starts (thank God), I just hope we kick off on the right foot and a good win Sat will send out the right message to the rest of them.
If we make the play-offs I’d be ecstatic but been truthful, a top 10 would be probably be were we end up.
Saying that, we need to be building a squad. We can’t keep saying “Oh were building for next year” because every year you lose min 6-8 so every year you build.
