Just discovered the Shoot annual for 2015 & in it is a list of club honours from the beginning of when each competition/league trophy began. I remember years ago reading a similar annual back at the start of 1997 & at the time we as a club had no major honours to our name – freight rover didn’t count – not classed as major enough.
Since then, as we know, we added both the division 2 & 3 titles to our name, but the one that brought a tear to my eye & a smile on my face was in the list of FA cup winners from 1872 or whatever the year of commencement was – the 2013 winners – WIGAN ATHLETIC. Sad i know, but i spent ages just looking at the winners for that year which was surrounded amongst some big name winners.
No matter what league we are in. No matter how bad things are on the football field at present, this will never ever be taken away from us & will forever be in the history books.
