Never did like that chant personally, I always thought it was a bit infantile and lower-league.
But yesterday’s version – “It’s just like being in a mosque” – quite apart from not scanning, just goes to show our youth following up for the tawdry, unfunny, (b)latently racist bunch that they are.
Well done. Not.
1 August 2011 at 12:06 pm #69279If they had stuck to the word `church` would that be racist too?
1 August 2011 at 12:36 pm #69282Its a funny old world
I find it deeply offensive when folk on here refer to Preston North End a great football club with a huge tradition and history as ‘nob end’
And I even feel for you sometimes Griff when folk refer to you as ‘baldie’
but hey ho thats the world we seem to live in these days
1 August 2011 at 12:47 pm #69284If they had stuck to the word `church` would that be racist too?Of course not, imbecile. Still not funny, but not racist. Even you should be able to see that substituting church for mosque displays an obvious racist intent.
Tea Bag – don’t worry about my sensitivities on the hair front. I couldn’t be more relaxed about it.
1 August 2011 at 1:56 pm #69288I just asked a question.

Wasn’t a very clever question, was it?1 August 2011 at 2:59 pm #69291What was the La-la, la-la-la, la la (clap, knock shoes together, wave shirt, etc) chant yesterday. My hearing’s not what it was and I can’t lip read. :?

Dull, that’s what it was ;)1 August 2011 at 3:16 pm #69293It sums it up when a four year asks slightly scornfully ‘What are they doing Daddy?’
1 August 2011 at 5:34 pm #69310Found it quite amusing and so did the scattering of Preston fans in the adjacent stands.
Don’t mind anything new as long as its not that back to the pitch, arms round each other jump up and down milarky that the city fans pinched off some foreign club they played at Eastlands last year.
Noticed Celtic are doing it now and it won’t be long before the scousers latch on.
From Matlock to ManU

Our very own So Flacid Crew were doing that as well yesterday, although not with their backs to the pitch, admittedly.2 August 2011 at 11:33 am #69374Found it quite amusing and so did the scattering of Preston fans in the adjacent stands.Don’t mind anything new as long as its not that back to the pitch, arms round each other jump up and down milarky that the city fans pinched off some foreign club they played at Eastlands last year.

I remember Lazio were big on the jumping up and down business in the 90’s.
Celtic do it to make a point against Rangers fans who do something similar.
2 August 2011 at 11:43 am #69379personally, I’ve never really understood the “its like being in church” chant
As an atheist I don’t get to them much, but on the occasions I have been I’m pretty certain that I can remember a hell of alot of singing going on at various points – with some congregations being louder than others naturally
Having never been to a mosque during a service I can’t comment on whether or not the atmosphere is like Deepdale for a pre-season friendly but those blokes at the top of the turrets make some noise 5 times a day
3 August 2011 at 12:21 am #69444Which race is this being racist against?
(just asking like!!)
