As I said before the ref was intent on Arsenal winning the game
Simple question – why would he?
Referees are at times incompetent – they have an off day. They will accept that.
I’m afraid I don’t go along with the theory that they deliberately give decisions against us. They may be subject to pressures in their own heads that make them tend to give decisions to teams with a high profile, because they know those decisions will be analysed closely by the pundits.
Unfair – yes. Lack of bottle – probably. Corrupt – no.
23 December 2012 at 4:29 pm #98521Wilshere made a meal of things when he got beat in the air by McCarthy. Writhing around holding his face ! Mac hardly fuckin touched him ! Turning into a joy boy and believing his own hype ! Cant be doing with players like that !Actually, I’d forgotten about the McCarthy incident, I’ll give you that.
It still doesn’t make his challenge on Maloney a foul ;)

You can tell me that refs don’t sway towards the bigger clubs

Just curious, what exactly do you think GL meant by the above if not that refs do sway towards the big clubs?
You are proving my point with every sentence you write.

Read back along this thread pal. Three people have simply offered a different opinion to yours and all you have done is start making childish comments. It’s OK for people to disagree with you. Don’t take it personally.
And yes, my comment about your spelling was possibly uncalled for but was in response to the gratuitous insult (odiotic?) on the Epiphany thread. That is the only time I have been anything but calm and reasoned this morning. I know, because I have done it deliberately.
23 December 2012 at 6:14 pm #98538I think this thread is divided between people who have watched it back and people who have not.
Was a top draw tackle no complaints.
23 December 2012 at 6:31 pm #98542Being in the East stand with rapidly failing eyes it did look malicious ! The pen looked soft from my view but to be fair our players didn’t really argue the decision either ! I haven’t seen any of the game back and so hindsight doesn’t come into it for me ! I thought we had hit the post at one point only to be told afterwards from someone in the South stand that it actually hit the back stanchion ! I believe everyone sees the games from a different perspective whether it be from actual incidents or just how the games pan out ! On the whole yesterday was a pretty good performance against a well organised side and it was our lack of mettle in the final third that let us down…Again !!

On the subject of watching the game back, I’ve re-run MOTD for Arsenal / Fulham (several weeks back) and Latics / Arsenal.
Would like someone to explain how Gooners can be awarded a last minute penalty for handball against Fulham (ball to hand, 3 yards distance) – Arteta missed – and yet we don’t get one of two shouts (ball carries far greater distance, Gibbs in particular) against Arsernal, particularly in context of soft penalty award against Latics. I’m confused.
Referees – consistency
As for that idiot Hanson, MOTD, advocating that Kone ought to have gone down in the second half (penalty). Feckin imbecile. No wonder football is what it is today – simulations, man-handling etc. Many a spectator driven away.
One minute we’re talking about dishing out yellows for blatant gamesmanship (Carzola – Arsenal /WBA), the next we’re advocating ‘fall to the ground'(Walcott etc.) on slightest contact.
No wonder many a ref has a ‘mare. Some players aren’t half making life difficult for them and abusing what should be a spectacle.
I applaud Kone for staying on his feet and the team for playing the game the proper way (win or lose).
