So, job done with three games to spare, I listened to Loweys interview and I like the way he is still setting targets for the players, no foot off the gas we keep going and for me at least 60 points should now be the target.
The manager must have some idea now who he wants to keep or release and have his eye on a few targets so hopefully we get down to business sooner rather than later, I heard a whisper yesterday that now our L1 status is confirmed for next season Lowey may give two or three academy lads that are champing at the bit a run out in the first team in the next three games (no names mentioned)
Looking forward to Saturday already, lets go for three wins on the bounce for the first time in a long time, 2-0 Latics
Fuck the EFL
22 April 2025 at 10:05 am #205625He’s achieved his goal which is L1 football next year but he’s also managed to turn us into a bullet proof defensive outfit as well conceding only 2 goals in our last 6 games.
I think we might be in for a few surprises as to who leaves and who stays and who he offers new contracts to in the summer.
There was a social media post (slip of the tongue) regarding Ledson from Preston who’s turned down a new contract at Preston and a link with a forward but speculation will be rife throughout the summer.
Danson needs to back Lowe, no one’s saying go mad go stupid but if we’re going to push for minimum top 6 we need signings.
Lets not forget we’ve 2 ball playing midfielders due back next season so priority must be a forward. It’s as clear as day we need someone in.
Now the $10 million dollar question, have we turned Taylor into a player we cannot afford??. I’m sure he will have raised a few eyebrows from a few Championship clubs but as an Andy Lidell type player playing off a forward he’s a must buy for us.
22 April 2025 at 10:07 am #205626Yes, we need to make better use of our academy set up.
I’d rather develop our own players that we can sell for profit, rather than develop other teams youngsters that give us no value unless they are exceptional players that can consistently perform at first team level. In recent years the only young loanee that fitted this bill was Reece James; and there are very few like him !I’m sure that Ryan Lowe will have his shopping list out this morning. Just hope Danson gives him the support that gets us back to being a progressive team
24 April 2025 at 8:11 am #205632Two or three experienced players and a proven goal scorer might be enough to take the club towards the top half of the table.
I agree with own players and have done for years , they save and make a lot of money and the club is handily placed geographically to pick up cast offs from the big northwest premier league clubs.24 April 2025 at 8:50 am #205633I got a thread of Facebook on Monday evening from someone saying they were celebrating.
He must be about the only one. More like a weary sigh of relief that this shocking season is almost over and pray that next season we will move forward, on and off the pitch.
